Building Your Snippet Library

Start Small

Don't try to create every possible snippet at once. Start with 3-5 snippets for things you do every week. Add more as you notice repetition in your work.

Notice Patterns

Pay attention when you:

  • Copy text from an old document to start a new one

  • Type the same instructions to AI multiple times

  • Wish you had a template for something

Each of these is a snippet opportunity.

Iterate

Your first version of a snippet won't be perfect. Use it a few times, notice what's missing or unnecessary, and refine it. The best snippets evolve with your workflow.

Group Thoughtfully

Create groups that match how you think about your work:

  • By project type: "Client Work," "Personal Projects"

  • By content type: "Outlines," "Prompts," "Checklists"

  • By workflow stage: "Research," "Drafting," "Review"

Choose whatever structure helps you find snippets quickly.

Common Questions

How many snippets should I have?

There's no right number. Some people thrive with 5 well-crafted snippets. Others have 50. The goal is to save time, not to have the biggest library.

Should I use Templates or Prompts?

If you'll use it mainly for AI chats and want quick access from the New Chat page, make it a Prompt. For everything else, use Templates. Both work in the "/" menu everywhere.

How specific should my prompts be?

Specific enough to be useful, general enough to be reusable. A prompt for "analyze this quarterly report" is too specific. A prompt for "analyze this document for key insights" works across many situations.

Can I include images in snippets?

Yes. Snippets can include anything you can add to a Note, including images and formatted text.

Thank you.
