Everything you add to Eden is automatically transcribed, analyzed, and made searchable. This guide covers how to add files, links, and notes to your workspace.
Three Ways to Add Items
You can add new items to Eden in three ways:
The + button — Click the + in the top left of your workspace
Right-click — Right-click anywhere inside a folder to see creation options
Quick create bar — Use the options at the top of your workspace, under the search bar
Uploading Files
Eden accepts all file types, but only certain formats are fully processed for transcription, AI referencing, and visual search.
Fully Supported File Types
These files are transcribed, analyzed frame-by-frame, and available to reference with AI:
Type | Formats | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
Video | MP4, MOV, and other common video formats | Transcribed, frames analyzed, scenes segmented and tagged |
Text extracted, fully searchable, available to AI | ||
Images | PNG, JPG, and other common image formats | Analyzed for visual content, searchable by description |
Other File Types
You can upload any file type to Eden for storage and organization. Files that aren't in the supported list above won't be transcribed or available for AI referencing yet — but keep an eye on our changelog for updates as we add support for more formats.
File Size Limits
File size limits depend on your plan:
Plan | Maximum File Size | Storage |
|---|---|---|
Free | 500 MB | 15 GB |
Starter | 3 GB | 100 GB |
Creator | 20 GB | 500 GB |
Pro | Unlimited | 2 TB |
Need more storage? Pro plans can add extra storage as an add-on.
What Happens When You Upload
When you upload a supported file, Eden automatically:
Creates a transcript — Speech and text are converted to searchable text
Analyzes each frame — Video and image content is processed for visual search
Creates segments — Videos are broken into "scenes" with specific tags, making it easy to find the exact moment you need
This processing happens in the background — you can keep working while Eden analyzes your files.
Adding Links
Eden downloads, transcribes, and analyzes content from supported links just like uploaded files.
Supported Link Types
Platform | What's Supported |
|---|---|
YouTube | Videos and Shorts |
Reels | |
Twitter/X | Posts (including video) |
Substack | Articles |
Web pages | Articles and other web content |
We're continuing to add support for more platforms, including LinkedIn and Facebook. Check our changelog for updates.
How to Add a Link
Click + Link from the quick create bar, the + button, or right-click menu
Paste the URL
Eden will automatically detect the platform and begin processing
The same auto-processing applies: transcripts are generated, frames are analyzed (for video content), and everything becomes searchable.
Tips for Links
YouTube videos are fully transcribed and frame-searchable — great for research or finding specific moments in long videos
Instagram Reels and Twitter/X posts with video are processed the same way
Articles (Substack, web pages) have their text extracted and made available to AI
Creating Notes
Notes are markdown-formatted items where you can write, outline, and organize ideas.
How to Create a Note
Click + Note from the quick create bar, the + button, or right-click menu
Start writing — Notes support full markdown formatting
Note Tips
Quick capture: When you create a new note and want to skip the heading, just hit backspace — you can write without formatting for quick ideas
Reference in AI: Notes can be connected to AI chats on Canvas, just like any other item
Organize with folders: Keep notes in project-specific folders or a dedicated "Quick Notes" folder for fast capture
Organizing Your Uploads
Once items are in your workspace, you can:
Move them to folders — Drag and drop, or right-click → Move to
Add them to Canvas — Drag items onto a canvas to connect them to AI chats
Search for them — Use visual search to find any frame, moment, or idea
Troubleshooting
My file isn't being transcribed
Make sure it's a supported format (video, PDF, or image). Other file types are stored but not processed for AI yet.
My link isn't working
Check that it's from a supported platform (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter/X, Substack, or a standard web page). If you're having trouble with a specific link, reach out to support@eden.so.
Processing is taking a long time
Large video files can take several minutes to fully process. You'll see a progress indicator — once complete, the transcript and segments will be available.
