Building your own prompt

Starting the builder

   Open the / menu and pick 'Build a prompt'

   It sits near the top of the Prompts group. A chat opens with the prompt builder active.

   Describe the task you repeat

   In plain language: "I want to turn a YouTube video into a set of tweets in my voice", "draft a cold email from a prospect's website", or "turn a newsletter into five post ideas." Don't worry about phrasing it perfectly.

   Answer a couple of follow-ups

   The builder asks only what it still needs - your audience, the format, what "good" looks like, any edge cases. When the task is already clear, it skips ahead.

   Confirm the prompt

   It proposes the finished prompt as a card - a short product-style name, the instructions, and a category, icon, and color it picked for you. Review and confirm, and it's saved to your Prompts library, runnable from / immediately.

What makes a good prompt

The builder handles the craft, but the better your raw material, the better the result:

• Be concrete about the task and the output. "Five tweets, each a different angle, no hashtags, ends on a novel point" beats "write some tweets".
• Show it what good looks like. Paste an example of the kind of output you want, or describe the rules you follow. This gets baked into the prompt's notes so every run matches.
• Point it at a reference to learn from. If a tutorial, transcript, or example demonstrates the method, hand it over - the builder studies it and distills the technique into the prompt. See references and the knowledge base.

Eden offers to save repeatable work for you

You don't always have to start the builder. When a normal chat turns into something repeatable - you pasted a tutorial that lays out a process, or you and Eden worked out a multi-step method together - Eden will offer to save it: "Want me to save this as a prompt so you can run it anytime from /?" Say yes and it builds the prompt from what you just did.

A prompt can be a multi-step process

Not every prompt is one shot. Because a prompt is just instructions, those instructions can lay out stages - intake, draft, critique, revise - so a single prompt walks the whole method every run. Describe the steps you follow and where you'd want to pause and approve before it continues; the builder structures that into the instructions. It stays plain text, so it runs anywhere.

Editing a prompt later

Two ways:

• On the Prompts page. Open the prompt to edit its instructions, name, category, and appearance.
• From chat. Just ask: "update my newsletter prompt to always end with a question", "make my launch email prompt ask for the offer first". Eden finds it and proposes the change as a card you confirm.

Tips

• Keep the name short - 2-3 words, like a product feature ("Hook Lab", "Cold Email Polisher"). It's what you'll scan for in the / menu.
• Match length to the task. A simple reformatting prompt should be short; a multi-stage research prompt can be longer. The builder calibrates this, but don't pad.
• Duplicate a starter prompt as a starting point when one is close to what you want, then edit.
