What are prompts in Eden
A prompt is a saved, reusable instruction you run from the chat slash menu. Build a library of repeatable tasks once, then run them anytime.
A prompt is a saved, reusable instruction set you can run anytime from the chat. Instead of
re-explaining a task every time, you save it once, give it a name, and run it from the / menu.
It's your own library of repeatable AI tasks.
Most people retype the same long instructions into AI over and over: "write me five tweet variations from this, each a different angle, in my voice, no hashtags...". A prompt captures that once. From then on it's one click, and it runs the same way every time.
Where prompts live
Open the Prompts tab in the sidebar. Every prompt you can run shows up here, grouped by category:
- Your prompts - the ones you've built or saved, organized into whatever categories you create.
- Starter prompts - a built-in library Eden ships with, ready to run or duplicate. These cover common creator tasks like turning one piece of content into a week of posts, generating titles, drafting threads, building a customer avatar, and more.
You run prompts from the chat - type / in any chat composer and the Prompts menu appears. You can also run one straight from its card on the Prompts page.
How a prompt is different from a normal chat
A normal chat starts blank - you explain what you want each time. A prompt comes pre-loaded with:
- Instructions - the full instruction set the AI follows every time it runs.
- A knowledge base (optional) - boards, saved items, or bundled reference files it should use.
Everything else works exactly as it does in any chat - the tools the AI has, your active identity, your voice. A prompt just supplies the instructions, so it stays plain and portable.

- Use them outside Eden. Connect Eden through the MCP and your prompts become
/eden-slash commands in Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT - see using your prompts as slash commands.
A good first move
Open the Prompts tab and run one of the starter prompts on something you're already working on. Content Atomizer (paste a newsletter or transcript) and Angle Generator (give it a topic) are good places to feel what a prompt does. When you find yourself wishing one worked a little differently, build your own - it only takes a short conversation.

References and the knowledge base
A prompt can use references two ways — to learn a method once at build time, or to pull from a live board or item on every run. Knowing the difference makes your prompts much sharper.
