Free tool

Free YouTube transcript generator.

Paste any YouTube link and get the full transcript in seconds. No signup, no card, no watermark. Copy it, download it as a text file, or flip on timestamps.

How it works

  1. 1

Paste the link. Any YouTube URL works: watch pages, youtu.be short links, Shorts, and live replays.

  2. 2

Get the transcript. We fetch the video's caption track server-side and clean it into readable text. Your browser never talks to YouTube, so it works even where YouTube blocks scrapers.

  3. 3

Use it anywhere. Copy it, download it as a .txt file, or email it to yourself with five post ideas pulled from the video's strongest lines.

One video is a week of content

A transcript turns a 20-minute video into text you can actually work with. The most common uses: repurposing a video into X posts, LinkedIn posts, and newsletter sections, pulling exact quotes for a script or an article, studying how a top creator structures their talking points, and feeding a video into an AI chat that can't watch it but can read it.

If you do this every week, the copy-paste loop gets old fast. That's the workflow Eden automates: save a video and it arrives with the transcript attached, ask the built-in AI for post drafts in your voice, and schedule the results to eight platforms. You can also research which videos in your niche actually outperform before you spend an hour on the wrong one.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the transcript of a YouTube video?

Paste the video's link into the box above and click Get transcript. The full transcript appears in seconds. You can read it on the page, copy it, download it as a text file, or flip on timestamps. It works with any youtube.com or youtu.be link, including Shorts and live replays.

Is this YouTube transcript generator really free?

Yes. No signup, no credit card, no watermark, no trial clock. There's a fair-use limit per connection so bots can't hammer it, but a person using it normally will never hit it.

Does it work on videos without captions?

No. The transcript comes from the video's caption track on YouTube, including auto-generated captions. Almost every video has those, but if a creator disabled captions entirely there's nothing to fetch and the tool will tell you.

Can I get the transcript with timestamps?

Yes. Once the transcript loads, use the Timestamps toggle to show the start time of every line. Copy and download respect the toggle, so you can export either a clean reading copy or a timestamped one.

Can I download the transcript as a file?

Yes. The Download button saves the transcript as a plain .txt file with the video title and link at the top, ready to drop into a doc, a note app, or an AI chat.

What languages does it support?

Whatever caption tracks the video has. If a video has captions in Spanish, you get Spanish. Auto-generated captions come in the language the video is spoken in.

Does it work for TikTok videos and Instagram Reels?

Yes. Paste a TikTok or Instagram Reel link into the same box and it transcribes those too. There are dedicated pages for each: the TikTok transcript generator and the Instagram Reel transcript generator.

How do I turn a transcript into social posts?

Two ways. On this page, use the email option and we'll send you the transcript with five post ideas pulled from its strongest lines. Or save the video to Eden, where every video comes with its transcript attached and the AI drafts posts from it in your voice.

Do this automatically in Eden.

Save any video to Eden and the transcript comes with it. Read it in a clean reader, highlight the best lines, and ask the AI for post drafts in your voice, then schedule them to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, and Substack from one queue.

Free plan. No card required. 100 saved items and 50 AI credits included.
