Email automations

Draw what happens after someone buys, signs up, or gets a tag. Send them sequences, tag them, wait, and split them down different paths.

·4 min read

Open Your store → Email → Automations, then click New automation. Add what starts it, add steps under it with the + buttons, then flip the switch at the top to Live. Needs Pro or above.

Start from a ready-made one

Click New automation and pick one. Eden makes the automation and the sequences and tags it uses, all as drafts, so nothing sends until you turn it on.

AutomationWhat it does
Buyer onboardingTags new buyers Customer, sends a welcome, then asks for a testimonial a week later
Lead to buyerTags people who get a free product Lead, pitches your paid one, tags buyers Customer
Win back membersTags people whose membership ended Former member and invites them back
Clean your listAsks people who stopped opening if they still want your emails, and unsubscribes the rest

Before you turn one on, open each of its sequences under Sequences. Read the emails, pick the product to sell where one asks for it, and turn each sequence on. Buyer onboarding and Lead to buyer start on the paid or free products you have today, so add new products to the start card later.

Clean your list

  1. Make the Clean your list automation, turn on its Still want my emails? sequence, then turn the automation on.
  2. In Audience → Subscribers, pick No opens in 6 months, click the box at the top, then Select all.
  3. Add the Last chance tag.

Each person gets two short emails, three days apart, asking them to click if they want to stay. Anyone who clicks gets the Stayed after cleaning tag. Anyone who doesn't click within three days of the second email is unsubscribed.

Build one

  1. 01

    Add a start

Click Add what starts this and pick what puts people in, like Buys a product, Signs up, or Gets a tag. Click Add another start for more. They all lead into the same steps.

  2. 02

    Add steps

Click a + on the line. Action has Email sequence, Add or remove tag, Wait, and more. Condition splits people by their tags, purchases, email opens, or custom fields from a list you imported.

  3. 03

    Turn it on

Flip the switch at the top. Tick Also add people from the last 30 days if you want them in too, then click Turn on.

Every change saves on its own. Click any card to edit it in the side panel, or right-click it to Edit, Duplicate, or delete it.

The steps you can add

StepWhat it does
Email sequencePuts them in a sequence and waits until they finish it
Add or remove tagChanges their tags, like adding Student after the welcome emails
WaitWaits a set time, or until a day and hour
Give product accessGives them a product for free
Move to automationEnds here and starts them in another automation
UnsubscribeTakes them off your list

Move to automation and Unsubscribe only go last on a path.

Split people down different paths

Under Condition, pick Yes / No for two paths, or Split path for up to 10 paths plus Everyone else. With a split, people take the first path that fits, left to right.

A condition checks people the moment they reach it, so put a Wait before an Email opens check to give them time to open.

Use a sequence in an automation

When you make a sequence, set Starts when to An automation puts them in. Its Settings show which automations use it under Used in.

Add people by hand

In Audience → Subscribers, tick the people you want, click Add to automation, and pick one that's live. You can add up to 500 at a time. Anyone already in it, or unsubscribed, is skipped.

Who goes through it

  • Each person goes through an automation once.
  • Pausing stops new people and holds everyone where they are.
  • Deleting a step moves the people waiting on it to the step below.
