How to add a store to your Instagram bio (and get people to buy)

How to sell from your Instagram bio in 2026: add a link-in-bio store, set up the link in the app, and use Stories, captions, and comment-to-DM to send people there.

To add a store to your Instagram bio, create a link-in-bio store page, then in the Instagram app go to Edit profile, Links, Add external link, and paste the page's address. Instagram allows up to 5 links, but one link to a page with your products on it works best. Instagram Shops can't sell digital products, so for courses, templates, and coaching, the bio link is your storefront. Then send people there with Story link stickers and comment-to-DM automations.

Full disclosure: we make Eden, which has a free link-in-bio page and a store. The steps work with any tool. Instagram facts were checked on Instagram's and Meta's help pages in September 2026.

Instagram gives you few places to link:

  • Captions: links aren't clickable for most accounts.
  • Stories: the link sticker works for most accounts.
  • Bio: up to 5 links.
  • Instagram Shops: Meta's commerce rules don't allow selling downloadable digital content or digital subscriptions, and in-app checkout ended in September 2025. Shops now send buyers to your own website to pay anyway.

So for anything digital (a course, a template, coaching, a membership), the bio link is where the sale happens.

Step 1: Make your store page

Pick a link-in-bio tool with a checkout, not only links. We compared them in the best link in bio tools. What matters:

  • A checkout on the page, so buyers pay without leaving to another site.
  • A low fee at your sales level.
  • One product on top. The first thing people see should be your main offer.
  • A mobile layout that loads fast. Almost everyone tapping from Instagram is on a phone.

On your phone, in the Instagram app:

  1. Go to your profile and tap Edit profile.
  2. Tap Links, then Add external link.
  3. Paste your store page's address and give it a title.
  4. Tap Done.

You can add up to 5 links. To change the order, go to Links, then Options, then Reorder links. You can't add links from a computer.

Use one link, not five. When your bio shows several links, Instagram collapses them and people have to tap again to choose. One link to a page that shows everything is simpler, and it lets you see which products get clicks.

Step 3: Write a bio that makes people tap

Your bio has one job: tell people who you help and why they should tap. A simple pattern:

  • Line 1: who you help and how. "I help writers get their first 1,000 subscribers."
  • Line 2: proof. "Grew my newsletter to 40k."
  • Line 3: the offer and a pointer. "Free starter guide below."

A link nobody taps doesn't sell. Ways to drive traffic from Instagram:

  • Say it in the caption. "The full template is in my bio." Captions can't hold a clickable link, so say where it is.
  • Story link stickers. Every Story about a product gets a link sticker straight to it.
  • Pin a post about your offer to the top of your profile.
  • Comment-to-DM. "Comment GUIDE and I'll send it to you." An automation replies in DMs with the link. ManyChat, which sells these tools, reports DM open rates of 70% to 90%. It's a vendor's number, but the idea is sound: a DM gets read, and a bio link is two taps away.
  • Match the link to the post. A post about writing should lead to your writing product, not your whole store.

Step 5: Make the page sell

Once people land:

  • Put one product first, with its price and a big button.
  • Show proof: a testimonial, a star rating, or how many people bought it.
  • Offer something free for people not ready to buy, in exchange for an email. See how to grow your email list from your link in bio.
  • Cut links nobody clicks.

How to do it with Eden

  1. Claim your free page in Your store → Storefront and pick a look.
  2. Add your products. Every product you publish shows on the page by itself.
  3. Turn on Start here for your main product, so it fills the top of the page on a phone.
  4. Copy your page link from the Your page card and add it in Instagram under Edit profile → Links.

A few things that help on Instagram:

  • Content links. Make a link for each Reel or post that opens your page with the matching product on top. Paste it into the Story sticker or DM for that post. See content links.
  • Instagram Auto-DMs. Reply to comments with a DM that holds your link, on Eden's Pro plan.
  • Share image. When your link is shared in DMs or other apps, it shows a card with your photo, name, and products.
  • Views and clicks. The Your page card shows views for the last 7 and 30 days and your most-clicked blocks.

The page is free on every plan. Selling needs the $29 Starter plan, and Eden takes 5% per sale.

What about TikTok?

TikTok only shows a clickable bio link once you have 1,000 followers or a verified business account. Add it under Edit profile → Links. TikTok also says its in-app browser may limit clicking through chains of links, so link straight to your store page rather than to a page of links that leads to another page. Frequently asked questions

Up to 5. One link to a store page usually works better, because several links make people tap again to choose.

Can I sell digital products on Instagram Shop?

No. Meta's commerce rules don't allow selling downloadable digital content or digital subscriptions through Shops. Sell them through a store page in your bio instead.

Not for most accounts. Say "link in bio" in the caption, and use Story link stickers or comment-to-DM for a direct link.

It depends on what you sell. Stan is a simple 0% store for $29 a month. Beacons has a free plan with a 9% fee. Eden has a free page and sells courses, coaching, and AI products for $29 a month plus 5%. See the best link in bio tools.
