How to sell digital products on TikTok in 2026
How to sell courses, templates, and guides from TikTok: why TikTok Shop mostly won't work, how to set up your bio link store, what videos sell, and how to track sales.
To sell digital products on TikTok, put a link-in-bio store in your profile and send people there from your videos. TikTok Shop in the US blocks digital products unless TikTok invites you into its Virtual Goods category, so for most creators the bio link is the store. You can add a website link once you have 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. Then post videos that show the product working, and track which videos bring in buyers.
This guide is for creators who sell a course, template, guide, coaching, or membership and want TikTok to send buyers. Full disclosure: we make Eden, which has a free link-in-bio page and a store. TikTok's rules were checked on TikTok's own help and policy pages in September 2026.
Can you sell digital products on TikTok Shop?
Mostly no. TikTok Shop's US Prohibited Products Policy (updated September 29, 2026) says virtual or digital products are prohibited unless approved for sale under the Virtual Goods category. TikTok's Virtual Goods Requirements page adds:
- Invite only. Sellers must be invited and approved before they list any virtual goods.
- What counts: software, digital games and in-game content, online courses, virtual gift cards, and digital event tickets.
- Banned even with approval: auto-renewal subscriptions and stored-value items like course credits and gift certificates.
- Limits: a $500 top price per listing, and delivery within 2 business days.
So if you sell templates, ebooks, coaching, or a monthly membership, TikTok Shop isn't an option for most creators. A DVD or a physical kit with a download code can be sold, because it's a physical product.
That leaves the bio link. It's the main place TikTok lets you send people to your own website.
Step 1: Get the link in your bio
TikTok's help page on profile links says you can add a website link if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. To add it:
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Next to Links, tap Add.
- Follow the steps to add your website.
Two things from the same page matter for sellers:
- Links open in TikTok's in-app browser. TikTok limits how far people can click through a chain of links in that browser, and may ask them to open the page in their phone's browser instead. TikTok recommends direct links, so people reach the page in just a few steps.
- No links that open other social apps. TikTok no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps. Links to those platforms' websites still work.
In practice: link to a page where people can buy right there, not a page of links that sends them to another page that sends them to checkout. Every extra hop is a place to lose a buyer.
Step 2: Build the store your link opens
Your bio link should open a page with a checkout on it, not only a list of links. What to look for:
| What matters | Why it matters on TikTok |
|---|---|
| Checkout on the page | Fewer taps in the in-app browser |
| Loads fast on a phone | Visitors arrive from the TikTok app on their phone |
| One main product up top | Visitors from a video want the thing they just saw |
| Free lead magnet with email signup | Most viewers won't buy today, but many will join a list |
| Per-video links or UTM tags | So you know which videos sell |
| A fee that fits your sales | Some tools take a cut of each sale, others charge a flat fee |
We compared the options in the best link in bio tools. If you also sell on Instagram, the same page works there. See how to add a store to your Instagram bio.
Step 3: Make videos that sell without feeling like ads
People on TikTok scroll past ads. They stop for something useful or interesting. The videos that sell digital products usually show the product doing its job.
- Tutorials. Teach one small piece of what the product teaches. "How I plan a week of content in 20 minutes" sells a content planner better than "Buy my planner."
- Before and after. Show the messy version, then the result. A budget before and after the spreadsheet. A resume before and after the template.
- Behind the scenes. Show how you made the product, how you use it every day, or how a buyer used it.
- Answer a comment. Reply to a real question with a video. It shows the question is common and you have the answer.
- Show the inside. Scroll through the course, open the template, flip through the guide. People want to see what they get.
Then tell people where to go in one line at the end: "The full template is in my bio."
Step 4: Pin your best videos
TikTok lets you pin videos to the top of your profile. Use those spots for the videos that explain your product best, so a new visitor sees them before anything else. Change them when a new video starts selling better.
Step 5: Comment-to-DM on TikTok (and its limits)
On Instagram, "comment GUIDE and I'll DM you the link" is a common way to sell. On TikTok, it's much more limited:
- Comment-to-Message (a TikTok feature that lets a business DM people after a buying-intent comment) is, per TikTok's API docs, only for Business Accounts registered in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand.
- Automatic messages (a welcome message, keyword replies, suggested questions, and chat prompts) are only for Verified Business Accounts and accounts with Advanced Access. Keywords can be up to 40 characters and replies up to 500. TikTok reviews each one, which takes 1 to 5 business days.
- No cold DMs through the API. TikTok's Business Messaging API docs prohibit starting a conversation with any user who hasn't messaged you first.
So on TikTok, the simple version is: ask people to DM you a word, not comment it. If you have automatic messages, set a keyword reply for that word that points them to your page. If you don't, the bio link does the job.
For Instagram, where comment-to-DM works well, see our guide to Instagram comment-to-DM.
Step 6: Track which videos sell
Views don't pay. Sales do. You want to know which videos bring buyers, not only which ones go viral.
- Add UTM tags to your bio link, like
?utm_source=tiktok. Your store can then tell TikTok visitors apart from Instagram or YouTube. - Use a separate link per big video when you can. Swap your bio link to point at the product that video is about.
- Compare visits to sales. A video that brings 50 visits and 5 sales beats one that brings 2,000 visits and none.
- Post often, keep what works. When a video sells, make more like it.

How to sell digital products from TikTok with Eden
Eden gives you a free link-in-bio page on every plan at yourname.eden.so, with your products on it. See the link-in-bio and store pages for the tour.
- Free creator page. Add your photo, bio, links, and a TikTok social link. Every product you publish shows up on it. See Your creator page.
- Checkout on the page. Buyers pay on your product page without a trip to another site.
- Start here. Turn on Start here for one product, and it becomes the first thing visitors see, with its price and one big button. Good for TikTok, where most people come for one thing.
- Content links per video. In Your store → Links, click New link and paste your TikTok video. Eden picks the product that fits, writes a headline, and gives you a link like
yourname.eden.so/go/planner. It opens your page with that product on top and a line naming the video. Put it in your bio while that video is doing well. See Content links. - See which videos sell. Each content link shows its visits, sales, and money made. Your store's Overview shows Where sales come from, using UTM tags first. See See where your sales come from.
- Collect emails. Add an Email capture block, or sell a free product at $0, so viewers who aren't ready to buy can join your list. Kit, beehiiv, GoHighLevel, and Substack get new signups once connected.
- Schedule your videos. Eden can schedule TikTok posts on Starter and above.
Where Eden falls short: Eden's Auto-DMs (comment-to-DM) work on Instagram only, and need the Pro plan. There's no TikTok pixel, so TikTok ad sales aren't sent back to TikTok (Eden has the Meta Pixel for Meta ads, on Pro). There's no custom domain for your page. Selling needs the $29 Starter plan, Eden takes 5% per sale, and Eden isn't the merchant of record, so sales tax through Stripe is yours to handle.
