Working fast in freeform

Move around

• Pan: hold Space and drag, or right-click and drag. Right-drag works even on top of an item. A quick right-click with no drag still opens the menu.
• Zoom: scroll or pinch.
• Fit everything in view: ⌘ 0 (Ctrl 0 on Windows).
• Pan tool: H. Select tool: V.

Copy and duplicate

• ⌘ C, then ⌘ V pastes under your cursor. If the cursor is off the board, it lands in the middle of your view.
• ⌘ J duplicates the selection right next to the original.
• Hold ⌥ (Alt) and drag an item to pull a copy out of it. The copy stays selected when you let go.
• Add Shift to any drag to keep it on one straight line.
• Press Esc mid-drag to cancel. An ⌥-drag copy disappears.

Draw and point

• P picks up the pen. It stays on after each stroke, so you can mark up several things in a row.
• E is the eraser. It also stays on.
• K is the laser pointer. The trail fades after about two seconds and is never saved. Use it on calls or screen recordings.
• Esc or V puts the pen down.

Undo

• ⌘ Z undoes. ⌘ Y or ⌘ Shift Z redoes.
• Undo only covers your own changes, not a teammate's.
• Opening another board, or switching this one to grid or list, starts a fresh history.
• If ⌘ Z does nothing, click an empty spot on the board first. Shortcuts only work when the board has focus.
