Schedule messages in a channel

Have your community post in a channel on its own at a set time, once or on repeat, like a daily check-in.

·3 min read

On the web, open your community's product, go to the Community step, open the Messages tab, and click Add a scheduled message under Scheduled messages. Pick the channel, the time, and how often it repeats, then click Schedule it.

Set up a daily check-in

  1. 01

    Open the Messages tab

Open the community's product in your store, click Community in the steps, then open the Messages tab.

  2. 02

    Add a scheduled message

Under Scheduled messages, click Add a scheduled message. It starts as a daily check-in at 9:00 AM.

  3. 03

    Pick where and when

Choose the Channel, set Repeats, Time, Time zone, and Start date. For a 30-day challenge, click 30 days next to End date.

  4. 04

    Write it and save

Write the Message. {day} becomes the day number, so Day {day} check-in posts as "Day 12 check-in". Click Schedule it. It's on right away.

Schedule one from the chat

In a channel, type /schedule at the start of the box, then your message, and press Enter.

  1. Check the words. Typing @everyone turns on Notify everyone in the channel instead.
  2. Pick a time: In 1 hour, Tomorrow 9 AM, Monday 9 AM, or set the date and time. It uses your own time zone.
  3. Leave Repeats on Once, or pick Every day or Weekdays.
  4. Click Schedule. Click Undo on the message that pops up if you change your mind.

It saves under Scheduled messages in the Messages tab, where you can edit or stop it. /schedule shows only for the owner and admins, and not in threads or direct messages.

Options on each message

OptionWhat it does
RepeatsOnce, Every day, Weekdays (Monday to Friday), or Pick days.
Time and Time zoneWhen it posts. It keeps that local time through daylight saving changes.
Start dateThe first day it can post. This is Day 1 for {day}.
End dateThe last day it posts. Leave it empty, or click No end, to keep going.
Notify everyone in the channelOn by default. Pings everyone who can see the channel, like a host's @everyone.

You can have up to 20 scheduled messages per community.

What members see

  • The message comes from your community's name and icon, not from you.
  • It works in channels where only hosts can post.
  • With Notify everyone in the channel on, members get a ping. People who muted the channel or the community don't.
  • Members can reply in the channel or in a thread, like any message.
  • Members on the phone apps see these messages too. You set them up on the web.

Pause, edit, or stop one

Each card shows the next post time, and how many times it has posted. Flip the switch to Off to pause it. Click Edit to change it, or Delete to remove it. A message set to Once shows Ended after it posts.

If something's not working

  • It skipped a day: if Eden was down when it was due and it's more than 2 hours late, it skips that day instead of posting at an odd hour.
  • It didn't post again after I changed the time: each message posts at most once a day.
