Import your Apple Notes

Bring your Apple Notes into your Eden Library from the Mac app. Each folder becomes a tag.

In the Eden Mac app, go to Settings → Import and click Import from Apple Notes. Pick your folders and click Import. Every note lands in your Library, tagged by folder.

Before you start

Only a Mac app can read Apple Notes, so this import needs the Eden Mac app. On the web and on Windows, the card shows Get the Mac app instead. There is no export step: Eden reads straight from the Notes app.

Import into Eden

Open the importer
In the Mac app, go to Settings → Import and click Import from Apple Notes.

Allow access
The first time, macOS asks if Eden may control Notes. Click Allow.

Pick folders
Tick the folders you want. Each shows its note count.

Click Import. You can keep working while it runs. When it ends, click Open Library.

What comes over

In Apple Notes	In Eden
Each note	One note in your Library. No boards are made.
Folders	Tags. Nested folders give the note every parent's tag.
Text, lists, checklists, tables	Kept
Images and attached files	Images stay in place. Files are listed at the bottom.
Created date	Kept, so old notes sort where they belong
Fonts, colors, underline	Dropped. The words stay.
Locked notes	Skipped. Eden never reads them.

Import again or undo

Run it again any time. Only notes that are new in Apple Notes are added.
Notes you already imported are never changed.
A note you deleted in Eden comes back on the next import.
To find imported notes, open Filter → Source in the Library and pick Apple Notes.
To undo, click Remove imported notes on the card. The notes move to Trash. Tags stay.

If something's off

"Eden needs permission to read Notes": click Open System Settings, then turn on Notes for Eden under Privacy & Security → Automation.
Import stopped early: you hit the Free plan's 100-item limit. Upgrade, then import again.
A note ends with "Note truncated on import": notes over about 180,000 characters are cut.
A file is missing: files over 15 MB are skipped.
