Sell a paid newsletter

Add a paid tier

   Open Add a paid tier

   In Email → Newsletter, open Settings and click Add a paid tier. Starting a new newsletter? Turn on Charge for some issues? in the setup box instead. New product → Newsletter also brings you here and opens the right box.

   Name and price it

   Fill in Name buyers see and Price, and pick Monthly or Yearly. Click Add paid tier. It's made and linked in one step.

   Finish the sales page and publish

   The paid tier starts unpublished. Click Edit sales page, fill in Page, then finish the checklist on Publish.

Already made a paid newsletter product before? Under Paid tier, pick it next to Or use one you already made and click Use as paid tier.

You write and send every issue from the Newsletter tab. See Start a newsletter for writing and adding them.

Make an issue free or paid

Each issue has a Free or Paid switch. When you send one, pick it under Who can read it.

To set where the free part stops, click Paywall on the toolbar, or type / and pick Paywall. Without a paywall line, Free preview picks how many paragraphs free readers see.

To send paid issues only to paid subscribers, turn off Send free readers a preview of paid issues in Settings.

Turn free readers into paid

With a paid tier linked, the Newsletter tab shows Make sales sequence. It writes four emails over two weeks that pitch your paid tier to every new free signup. It starts as a draft, so read it and turn it on. Sequences need Pro or above.

Your newsletter page also shows Become a paid subscriber. Paid issues there show the free part and a lock.

What paid subscribers get

• Every issue by email, plus the whole archive to read in Eden on web and phone.
• Email me new issues lets them turn emails off and read only in Eden.
• The link at the bottom of an issue stops emails for that newsletter only.
• Paid issues still reach subscribers who unsubscribed from your other emails, because they paid.
• If their paid access ends, they stay on as free subscribers.

Good to know

• Publishing needs Starter or above.
• To stop selling, click Remove paid tier under Settings → Paid tier.
• Paid and free subscribers count toward your Email marketing contacts. Each issue uses one send per reader, from the sends your plan includes each month.
• A newsletter needs Eden checkout. It can't be a coaching or cohort product.

If something's not working

An old Untitled newsletter draft may show This didn't finish setting up as a newsletter. Click Finish as a newsletter to make it a paid tier, or Delete draft to remove it.
