The best software for content agencies in 2026
The best tools for content agencies, by job. Eden Agency runs research, AI, scheduling, and client workspaces in one plan. Honest alternatives, prices checked.
The best software for a content agency in 2026 depends on whether you want one tool or ten. If you want one, Eden Agency puts client workspaces, AI chat, content research, scheduling, analytics, Instagram DMs, and email under one $999 a month plan for 10 seats and 25 clients. If you want the best single tool for each job, most agencies end up with Notion or ClickUp for work, Sprout Social or Hootsuite for publishing, and a research tool like Sandcastles, Poppy, or 1of10 on top. This guide covers both paths, job by job.
Full disclosure: we make Eden, which is first on this list. We say plainly where it is the wrong fit and which tool to pick instead. All prices were checked on each company's site in October 2026.

What a content agency actually needs
Every content agency does the same five jobs for each client, over and over:
- Research. Find what is working in the client's niche before writing a word.
- Write. Turn that into posts, scripts, and threads in the client's voice.
- Approve and publish. Get sign-off, then schedule to the right accounts.
- Measure. See what worked, so next month is better than this one.
- Report and retain. Show the client the value so they keep paying.
The hard part is not any single job. It is doing all five for 10 or 25 clients without mixing them up, and without paying for a seat in ten tools for every person on your team. We added up what that costs in the content agency tech stack, priced line by line.
1. Eden Agency (all in one)
Eden is an AI content workspace. The Agency plan gives each client their own private workspace, and gives your team one place to research, write, schedule, and measure for all of them.
What it does well:
- A private workspace per client. Boards, notes, and chats stay with that client. 25 are included, and more are $9 a month each. Switch clients from the top of the sidebar or with ⌥ ⌘ K.
- Build your process once. Turn your SOPs into Custom AIs and skills in the agency workspace, then share them into every client. Edit one copy and every client gets the change. We cover this in how to scale a content agency with AI.
- Research across six platforms. Discover scores outlier posts on X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Substack against each creator's own normal performance.
- Scheduling to eight platforms. X, LinkedIn, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and Substack, with 50 brands so each client's accounts stay separate.
- One credit pool. 15,000 AI credits a month shared by your team and every client. Settings → Agency shows what each client used, and you can cap any client.
- Free client guests. Invite a client to the boards you pick. They don't use a seat and never see your AI chats.
- The rest of the stack. Instagram Auto-DM, email broadcasts and sequences, a store page, courses, and 365 days of analytics.
Where it falls short: Eden has no shared social inbox for replying to comments and DMs across accounts, no formal approval workflow, and no white-label or branded client reports. If your clients expect a monthly PDF report with your logo, or your team spends its day in a social inbox, Sprout Social or Hootsuite does that better. Eden also does not schedule to Pinterest, Bluesky, or Google Business Profile.
Price: $999 a month, or $9,990 a year (two months free). 10 seats and 25 client workspaces included. Extra seats are $15 a month, extra clients $9 a month. Smaller teams can start on Agency Lite: $299 a month, or $2,990 a year, with 3 seats, 5 client workspaces (up to 10), 4,500 AI credits a month, and the same agency tools. Email lists over 250 contacts add a paid list size.
Best for: content agencies of 3 to 30 people who research, write, and publish organic content for creators and founders.
2. Notion or ClickUp (workspace and project management)
Notion is where many agencies keep client wikis, content calendars, and SOPs. Business is $20 per seat a month and now includes Notion's AI agent. ClickUp is the better pick if you run on tasks, due dates, and workload views. Unlimited is $10 per user a month ($7 billed yearly), Business is $19 ($12 yearly), and its Brain AI add-on is $9 per user a month.
What they do well: flexible databases, task assignment, client-facing pages, and huge template libraries. Both are excellent at "who is doing what, by when."
Where they fall short for content: neither knows anything about social media. There is no research feed, no outlier scoring, and no scheduler, so every post gets copied out into another tool to publish. And per-seat AI pricing adds up fast across a team.
Best for: agencies whose main pain is project management, not content quality. Plenty of teams run Notion or ClickUp next to Eden for tasks and billing.
3. Sprout Social or Hootsuite (enterprise social management)
Sprout Social and Hootsuite are the classic agency social suites. Both give you a shared inbox, approvals, listening, and polished reports.
- Sprout Social: Standard is $199 per seat a month, Professional $299, Advanced $399. A cheaper Essentials plan starts at $79 per seat on yearly billing ($99 monthly) with 5 profiles. 30-day free trial.
- Hootsuite: Standard is $99 per user a month, Professional $199, Advanced $399, all billed yearly. 14-day free trial.
Where they fall short: per-seat pricing punishes a growing team. Ten people on Hootsuite Professional is about $1,990 a month before anything else. Neither helps much with the upstream question of what to post, and neither is built around writing in a client's voice.
Best for: agencies that manage community and customer replies, need formal approval chains, or report to brand marketing teams. See our agency social media tools ranking for cheaper options in this category.
4. Sandcastles, Poppy, and 1of10 (content research)
These are the research tools agencies stack on top of everything else.
- Sandcastles studies winning short-form videos on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and helps write scripts from them. Titan, the plan it points agencies to, is $499 a month ($399 yearly) with 1,500 credits and 20 workspaces. Compare it in Eden vs Sandcastles.
- Poppy gives you visual boards where you add creators, videos, and docs and chat with AI about them. Entry pricing starts around $33 a month on yearly billing. See Eden vs Poppy AI.
- 1of10 is a YouTube outlier and packaging tool. Free to start, Basic is $19 a month or $180 a year. See Eden vs 1of10.
Where they fall short: each covers part of the research job. Sandcastles and 1of10 are video first, so a LinkedIn or X ghostwriting agency gets little from them. None of them schedule posts, so research still gets copied into a separate queue.
Best for: video-first agencies (Sandcastles), YouTube packaging work (1of10), and teams who like a visual canvas for AI (Poppy). Our full content research tools comparison goes deeper.
5. GoHighLevel (funnels, CRM, and white label)
GoHighLevel is the agency toolbox for lead gen and local business marketing: CRM, funnels, websites, email, texting, phone numbers, and sub-accounts you can resell. Starter is $97 a month with 3 sub-accounts. Unlimited is $297 and Agency Pro is $497, both with unlimited sub-accounts. Email, texting, and AI are billed by use on top.
Where it falls short for content: GoHighLevel's social planner is a small part of a huge product. There is no outlier research, and writing in a client's voice is not what it is built for. Setup takes real time.
Best for: agencies that sell funnels, ads, and appointment setting to local businesses, or want to white-label software. If that is you, GoHighLevel's price buys real tools. More in our GoHighLevel pricing breakdown and GoHighLevel alternatives.
6. ChatGPT or Claude (AI chat)
Most agencies already pay for ChatGPT Business ($25 per seat a month) or Claude Team. They are great general writers. The problem for an agency is context: every chat starts from zero, client voice lives in someone's head or a pasted doc, and nothing connects to the research or the queue.
If your team loves Claude or ChatGPT, keep it. Eden has an MCP server so those assistants can search Eden's research, read client boards, and schedule posts from inside the chat.
7. ManyChat and Kit (DMs and email)
For clients who sell, comment-to-DM and email are part of the job. ManyChat is the standard for Instagram DM automation and bills by contact count. Kit Creator is $33 a month at 1,000 subscribers. Both are excellent and both are one more login per client. Eden covers the common case with Instagram Auto-DM and email marketing inside the client's workspace.
Which one should you pick
- You write and publish organic content for creators, founders, or personal brands: Eden Agency. Research, voice, scheduling, and client separation are the core of the product.
- Your team lives in a social inbox and reports to brand marketers: Sprout Social or Hootsuite.
- You need tasks, due dates, and workload views first: ClickUp or Notion, next to whatever publishes.
- You sell funnels, ads, and texting to local businesses: GoHighLevel.
- You only make short-form video scripts: Sandcastles is focused on exactly that.
- You have 1 to 3 clients and a small team: start smaller. Eden Agency Lite ($299 a month) includes 5 client workspaces, 3 seats, and every agency tool. See pricing.
Frequently asked questions
What software do content agencies use?
Most use a stack: a workspace like Notion or ClickUp, an AI chat tool, one or two research tools, a scheduler like Hootsuite or Sprout Social, an analytics tool, and email or DM tools for clients who sell. All-in-one platforms like Eden Agency replace most of that list with one plan.
Is there one tool that does everything for a content agency?
Nothing does literally everything. Eden Agency covers research, writing with AI, scheduling, analytics, DMs, email, and client workspaces. It does not include a shared social inbox, approval chains, white label, or invoicing, so some agencies keep a project tool or billing tool next to it.
How much should a content agency spend on software?
We priced a typical 10-person stack at $2,261 a month using each tool's cheapest fair plan. The full breakdown is in what a content agency tech stack costs.
Do my clients need their own logins?
On Eden Agency, clients join free as guests on the boards you choose, like their Research board, and they never see your AI chats. In per-seat tools like Hootsuite or Sprout Social, client access usually means more seats or a separate approval link.
