Five things that start a DM.
Comments, story replies, DMs, reactions. A keyword on a post, any reply to a story, a keyword in your inbox, or a reaction to one of your DMs. Each automation pairs one trigger with one message.
Or a public reply. The fifth trigger answers a matching comment out loud instead, starting with the commenter's username.

An answer machine that doesn't sound like one.
A short natural delay. DMs go out 20 to 60 seconds after the trigger, not instantly. Nobody gets the same automation twice in seven days, and public replies are capped per day.
One list, everything on it. The studio is a list of your automations with a status pill and the numbers: clicks, replies, sends. Open one to pause, edit, or delete it.
It never stalls silently. Out of credits, it pauses and shows why, then resumes on its own once credits refill. Anyone who needs you waits in Conversations, with a push to your phone.

The link stays put. Edit the destination any time. The short link in every DM already sent points at the new place. Links a flow sends are counted per step.
Your brand on the link. On Pro and Max, connect a domain you own like go.yourbrand.com. One DNS record, and new tracked links carry your name instead of edn.so.

How fast does the DM go out?
Usually within a minute. Messages send after a short natural delay of 20 to 60 seconds rather than instantly, which reads as human and keeps your account clear of spam flags. A very viral post may deliver over a longer window, because Instagram limits how many DMs an account can send per hour.
What happens when they reply to the DM?
Add an AI follow-up and the conversation keeps going. You set the steps: ask a question, get their email, send a link. The AI reads each reply in their own words, moves them on when a step is done, and answers side questions in your voice. It only sends the links you added, and it only replies. It never messages anyone first.
Is this a ManyChat alternative?
For Instagram, yes. DM Flows cover what most creators use ManyChat for: comment to DM, multi-step follow-ups, collecting emails, tagging people, and sending different people different ways. The difference is that you don't draw a button for every answer. People reply however they like and the AI understands it. ManyChat still covers more channels, like WhatsApp and Messenger.
Can it send different people different ways?
Yes. Add a split and give each path a rule. The AI can decide from their reply ("they sound like a beginner"), you can check an answer they gave (budget over 500), or Eden can check what it already knows: if they bought a product, are on your email list, or have a tag. Anyone who fits no path goes to Everyone else.
Where do the emails go?
Straight onto your Eden email list, with the tags you pick. A tag can start one of your email automations, so a DM can kick off your welcome emails. Turn on Subscribe them to your emails if they should get your newsletter too.
Can it check that they followed me?
No. Instagram doesn't tell Eden who follows you, so a follow step moves on when they say they followed. That's fine for a free download, but it isn't a real check.
What if someone needs a real person?
The AI hands the chat to you when they ask for you, say one of your handoff words, or get stuck on a step. They show up under Auto-DM → Conversations, and you can get a phone push. Reply from Eden or from Instagram. Saying "stop" always ends the flow for them.
What can start a DM?
Five triggers. Someone comments a keyword on your post, replies to any of your stories, sends you a DM with a keyword, or reacts to one of your DMs. The fifth posts a public reply to a matching comment instead of a DM.
What does it cost?
Auto-DM and DM Flows are included on Pro and Max plans. Each DM an automation sends costs 1 credit, and so does each reply the AI sends in a flow. Creating automations and flows, testing them, watching posts, and public comment replies are free. If your workspace runs out of credits your automations pause and resume on their own once credits refill.
Can I see who clicked my link?
You see the numbers, not the people. Each automation card shows how many clicks the link got, along with sends and replies, and each step in a flow shows how many people it reached and clicked.
Will someone get the same DM over and over?
No. The same person will not receive the same automation's DM twice within seven days, no matter how many times they comment.
Which posts does a comment automation watch?
You choose: one specific post, your next post, or every new post. With every new post, Eden keeps your most recent posts armed and retires the oldest ones as new posts come in, since old posts get almost no new comments.
Can links use my own domain?
Yes, on Pro and Max. Tracked links use edn.so by default. Connect a subdomain you own, like go.yourbrand.com, add one DNS record, and new tracked links carry your brand with a link reputation that's yours.
Which platforms does it work on?
Instagram today. Auto-DM runs on the Instagram account you connect in Eden, and you may be asked to reconnect once so messaging permissions are granted.
