Start tasks

There's nothing to turn on. Eden uses tasks when a request has big, independent parts. You can also ask for them. For example:

Research my Instagram and LinkedIn performance separately, compare the patterns, and write a strategy note with evidence from both.

Small lookups and tightly linked edits stay in the main chat.

Follow progress

• Task card: shows in the chat with each task's status (Queued, Running, Done, Failed, Stopped), a timer, and what it's doing now.
• Waiting line: sits above the composer while tasks run. Eden doesn't guess how long they'll take.
• Stop: click Stop on a task to cancel it. Stopping the main chat stops its tasks too.
• Open a task: click its title to open its chat beside yours. It's read-only. Ask for changes in the main chat.
• Sidebar: the Tasks section in the chat sidebar lists them. Older turns fold under Earlier tasks. (Web only.)

You can leave while tasks run. When they finish, the main chat picks up on its own. If you send a new message first, Eden holds the results until you ask it to use them.

The task card, waiting line, Stop, and read-only task chats also work in the iOS and Android apps.

What tasks can and can't do

• Each task gets a short brief, not your whole chat history.
• Tasks in a Custom AI chat use its instructions and knowledge.
• Tasks can research and create notes, tables, images, carousels, and drafts.
• A task can only edit an existing item if the main chat assigns it.
• Publishing, scheduling, and connected-app changes need your OK, and the main chat must pass that exact action on.
• Tasks can't start more tasks or change routines.
• Each task runs for up to 20 minutes.

Tasks and routines

A routine decides when a chat runs, like every Monday. Tasks split up the work inside that run. A routine waits for its tasks before it reports back.
