Meet routines: put Eden on a schedule
A routine is a prompt Eden runs for you automatically, daily, on weekdays, weekly, or monthly. Each run lands in a fresh chat with the result waiting, and can email you when it finishes.
A routine is a prompt Eden runs for you on a schedule. Set it once, and every run happens on its own: a morning content brief before you wake up, fresh post ideas every weekday, a strategy sweep every Monday. Each run lands in a fresh chat with the finished result, and a routine can email you the result too.
How a routine runs
When a routine is due, Eden opens a brand-new chat and sends your routine's prompt as the first message, exactly as if you had typed it. The run behaves like any other chat message: it can search social, read your boards and notes, build tables, and draft in your voice.
While a run is going, the chat shows a pulsing dot in your chat list and jumps to the top. When it finishes, the dot turns blue. Finished runs from the last week also appear on the new chat screen, so you see what came in overnight the moment you open Eden. Opening the chat clears the marker.
Creating a routine
The fastest way is to just ask in chat:
Every weekday at 9am, find me 5 post ideas in the productivity niche and rank them by how proven the angle is.
Eden confirms the schedule and creates the routine in the same turn. If you say something like "set up a routine" without the details, Eden interviews you first: what should it do, when should it run, and what should the output look like.
You can also create one by hand:
- 01
Open Settings → Routines
Click Add routine in the top right. Choose Set up in chat for the guided version, or Write it yourself for the form.
- 02
Fill in the form
Name the routine, write the instruction as a complete request, and pick the schedule: Daily, Weekdays, Weekly (pick a day), or Monthly (pick a day of the month), plus a time. Times run in your own timezone.
- 03
Choose the model
Leave Automatic selected to use Eden's default model, which is usually Eve Max. Choose a specific model only when you want to pin the routine to it; the form shows each model's base credit cost.
- 04
Choose how you hear about it
Leave Email me the result after each run checked to get the run's output in your inbox. The Eden mobile apps also send a push notification when a run finishes; you can turn those off under the app's notification settings.
If you work from Claude, Cursor, or another agent connected to the Eden MCP, it can create and manage routines for you too. Ask it the same way ("every weekday at 7am, draft my posts"); it sets the schedule in Eden and the runs happen here.
Managing your routines
- Settings → Routines lists everything: schedule, model, next run, and a pause toggle per routine. Click a routine to edit its prompt, timing, model, or email preference, or delete it from the row.
- The clock icon at the top of any chat opens the same list in a small popover, with pause and delete one click away.
- You can also manage routines in plain language: "pause my morning brief", "change my ideas routine to 8am", "delete the analytics recap".
Editing a routine keeps its original timezone, so a routine you set while traveling does not drift when you get home.
