Email marketing

Send sales emails to your buyers and signups from your store. Set up sequences that go out on their own, or send a broadcast to a list you filter.

·5 min read

Open Your store → Email marketing. Finish Settings once, then click New broadcast to send one email, or New sequence to send a series on its own. Needs Starter or above.

See examples of broadcasts, sequences, and checkout recovery on the Email marketing feature page.

Set up your sender

  1. 01

    Open Settings

    In Email marketing, click Settings.

  2. 02

    Fill in the sender

Set your From name, where Replies go to, and a Mailing address. Pick Use my own or Use Eden's address.

  3. 03

    Send a test

Click Send me a test email to see it in your own inbox.

Emails come from your store handle on Eden's sending address. Pick a Look: Letter reads like a personal note, Branded adds your store icon and color.

Who's on your list

Your contacts fill in on their own. Open Contacts to see them.

  • People who buy or claim a free product.
  • People who sign up on your page, or tick the email box on a form.
  • People who start checking out but don't buy.
  • People you import in Customers, or add through Zapier or Eden chat.

Only import people who bought from you or agreed to hear from you. Imported people get broadcasts, but they don't start sequences.

To keep buyers, free claims, or signups off this list, turn off their Eden switch in Integrations → Who goes where. A signup form on your page can also pick its own lists. See Connect your email list.

Tag, unsubscribe, or delete many people at once

  1. In Contacts, tick the box next to each person, or the box at the top to pick everyone shown.
  2. To go past the people loaded, click Select all.
  3. Pick an action: Add tag, Remove it, Unsubscribe, or Delete.

Delete can't be undone. People who unsubscribed or marked you as spam stay on your list, so they never get emailed again. Bad addresses already don't count toward your list size.

Send a broadcast

  1. Click Broadcasts, then New broadcast.
  2. Write a Subject and the email.
  3. Under Who gets it, add filters like Bought, Has a tag, or Signed up on my page.
  4. Click Send me a test.
  5. Under When it goes out, pick Now or Pick a time, then send.

People who haven't opened or clicked in 6 months are skipped. Tick Include quiet people to add them. Broadcasts open after your first paid month on Eden. You can write one before then.

Set up a sequence

  1. Click Sequences, then New sequence, and pick what starts it.
  2. Edit each email and the day it goes out. To draft them all, pick what it sells in the sequence's Settings, then click Write with AI (10 credits).
  3. Click Send me this one on an email to test it.
  4. Flip the switch at the top and click Turn on.

A sequence starts when:

  • Someone buys or claims a product.
  • Someone signs up on your page.
  • Someone starts checking out but doesn't buy (checkout recovery).
  • A membership ends.
  • Someone gets a tag.

When you turn one on, you can also add people from the last 30 days. If a sequence sells a product, anyone who buys it leaves the sequence. Sequences need Pro or Studio.

You can also start one from a signup form: open the newsletter block on your page, then flip a sequence on under Start a sequence, or click New sequence for this form.

What Eden handles for you

  • Unsubscribes: every email has an unsubscribe link and your mailing address. People who unsubscribe never get another email, even if you import them again.
  • Uploaded addresses: Eden checks each one before it gets an email. Ones that would bounce are skipped and show as Bad address in Contacts.
  • Your first big send: the first 500 emails go out, then the next 5,000 about an hour later, then everyone else about 30 minutes after that, once bounces and spam reports look fine. This happens once.
  • Bounces and spam reports: Eden watches both and warns you before it has to pause your emails. See below.

Your delivery health

On Broadcasts, the Delivery health card shows the last 7 days:

NumberGoodWatchToo high (we pause)
BouncesUnder 2%2% to under 5%5%
Spam reportsUnder 0.05%0.05% to under 0.1%0.1%, or 5 reports

Until you've sent 50 emails in a week, it shows your bounce and spam report counts and how close you are to a grade. Bounces get graded at 50 emails, spam reports at 200.

If you get close to a pause, a yellow banner shows your numbers and what helps, and we email you. Bounces usually come from an old, bought, or copied list. Spam reports usually mean people don't remember you or get too many emails.

If your emails get paused

Your emails waiting to go are held, not lost. We also email you why.

  1. Open Email marketing.
  2. Read why at the top, and fix the list or the emails.
  3. Tick These people bought from me, signed up, or agreed to hear from me.
  4. Click Resume.

After you resume, emails go first to people who opened or clicked lately, or just bought or signed up. Everyone else gets theirs once about 200 emails land well.

You can resume on your own once every 30 days. If your emails get paused again soon after, contact support at [email protected]. Pauses from Amazon or a review also need support.
