Find people in a community

Find someone

1. 01

   Open Members

   Click Members in the icon bar on the left of the community.

2. 02

   Search

   Type in the search box. It matches names, what people are working on, and bios. Try a skill or a topic, like "podcast" or "design".

3. 03

   Look closer

   Click a card to open that person's full profile: what they're working on, their bio, their links, and when they joined.

Keep scrolling and more people load.

Pick who shows

The views sit in the sidebar next to the list. In a narrow window they show as buttons above the cards.

People with a bio and links show first, then people with one of them, then everyone else. Hosts come first within each group.

Message someone

Click their card, then Message. It opens a private chat in Messages.

You only see Message when you're allowed to reach that person. That depends on the community's settings and on their own Who can message me setting. See Messages and group chats.

Help people find you

Click your own card, then Edit profile. Add what you're working on, a short bio, and your links. If your profile is empty, a Help people find you box at the top of the list reminds you.

Your photo, bio, and links are the same in every community you're in.

Hide from the list

Don't want to be listed? Open Edit profile and turn off Show me in the members list. You're left out of this community's list, but people still see you in chat and posts. Hosts still see you in Admin → Members. A You're hidden from this list box at the top has a Show me button to turn it back on.

Welcome and rules

The Members sidebar also has Welcome and Rules rows, so you can read them again any time.

On iPhone and Android

Tap the community's name at the top, then Members. It works the same: search, the three views, cards, Message, and Edit profile.
