Getting started

Connecting Readwise to Eden

Sync your Readwise highlights into Eden, then search them, chat with them, and save them to your boards as quote cards.

·3 min read

If you save highlights in Readwise, you can pull them straight into Eden. Once connected, your highlights become a searchable library you can chat with and drop onto any board as a quote card.

Readwise collects the passages you highlight across books, articles, podcasts, and tweets. Connecting it to Eden turns that swipe file into raw material you can actually write from.

Before you start

You need a Readwise account and your personal access token. You can grab the token any time from readwise.io/access_token — it's a single string Eden uses to read your highlights on your behalf.

Connect Readwise

  1. 01

    Open Settings → Integrations

Click your workspace name, open Settings, and select the Integrations tab.

  2. 02

    Paste your access token

Under Readwise, click Get your token to open the Readwise token page, copy the token, paste it into the field, and click Connect.

  3. 03

    Let the first sync run

Eden starts pulling your highlights immediately. Large libraries take a minute or two; the card shows a live count as they land. You don't need to wait — they'll keep arriving in the background.

After the first sync, click Sync now under Settings → Integrations → Readwise to pull new highlights any time. On Pro and above, Eden keeps your library fresh on its own — hands-off auto-sync that refreshes in the background, so you never have to sync manually.

Where your highlights live

  1. 01

    The Highlights pane

Click Highlights in the left sidebar to open the full library — a flat, newest-first list you can search and filter by book, author, type, or tag. Hover the row and click the side-pane icon to open it next to whatever you're working on.

  2. 02

    The command menu

Press Cmd+K and switch to the Highlights tab to search your highlights from anywhere, across every connected provider. Click one to jump into the library.

  3. 03

    In chat

Ask Eden things like "find my highlights about pricing" or "pull my notes on writing" and it will search your library and bring back the matches.

Save a highlight to a board

In the Highlights pane, select one or more highlights and use Send to board. They land as quote cards — the passage in an editorial pulled-quote layout with the book, author, and the original highlight color preserved — so a board can double as a curated wall of the lines that matter to you.

You can also Boost a highlight to develop it into an insight, mine post ideas from it, or stress-test the thinking behind it.

Disconnecting

To revoke access, go to Settings → Integrations → Readwise and click Disconnect. Your synced highlights stay in Eden; only the connection (and your stored token) is removed. Reconnect any time by pasting your token again.
