Saving paid and members-only articles

Save the full text of paid Substack, Patreon, and other members-only posts with the Eden Chrome extension.

Open the post in Chrome while you're signed in. Click Save to Eden in the toolbar and save. The full article comes through.

Save the full post

    Open the post in Chrome

    Sign in to the site so you can see the whole article.

    Click Save to Eden

    It's the Eden button in your Chrome toolbar. The popup shows the page as a card.

    Pick where it goes

    Use Save to to pick Library, Reading list, a board, or New board.

    Save

    Click Save to Library, Save to Reading list, or Save to board.

This works because the extension sends the page you're looking at, signed in. Pasting the link into Eden can't do that, since Eden isn't signed in to the site. It doesn't apply to YouTube.

Right-click saving

Right-click and pick Save link to Eden to open the same picker.

  • On the post itself, it saves the page like the toolbar button does.
  • On a link to some other page, only the link is sent. Paid posts won't come through in full that way.

The menu also has Save highlight to Eden and Save image to Eden.

If something's not working

Reader says "This looks like a members-only post". Eden only got the free preview. Open the full post in Chrome while signed in, then save it again with the toolbar button.
