Reading saved articles in Eden

Open and close Reader

   Open a saved item

   Click a saved link, PDF, or video in your Library or on a board.

   Click the book icon

   It sits in the top right of the item. A link's details page also has a Reader button. Or right-click the item in your Library or on a board and pick Read in Eden.

   Exit when you're done

   For links, the pane's own buttons hide once the article loads. Click Reader's book chip (Exit reader), or open ⋯ and pick Exit reader mode. On mobile, use View Details in the ⋯ menu.

The top of the page shows the site name and read time, then the title, byline, and a short excerpt.

In the Library, Read in Eden works on documents, emails, links, Substack posts, YouTube videos, and PDFs.

Make Reader the default

Turn on Settings → Preferences → Reading → Open items in Reader view. On iPhone and Android the setting is called Open items in Reader.

• Articles, PDFs, and videos open straight into Reader.
• Short social posts still open on their details page. X articles, threads, Substack posts, and posts over 600 characters open straight in.

Eden may also ask "Open links in Reader view by default?" on the web, or "Make Reader your default?" on mobile. Pick Yes or Not now.

Change how it looks

Open ⋯ → Display settings.

Jump around and pick up later

• ⋯ → Contents lists the headings. It shows up when an article has two or more.
• On long articles, a round handle shows on the right edge when you scroll fast or move your mouse there. Drag it to jump through the page. While you drag, it shows the section and how far in you are.
• Your spot syncs across devices. Reopen an item and you'll see "Picked up where you left off".

Newsletters and RSS

• Newsletters you forward to your capture address become notes in your Library. The default setting doesn't apply to notes. Click the note's book icon (Reader), or right-click it and pick Read in Eden. Notes you open from your Reading list open in Reader.
• RSS posts save as links, so they work like any other article.
