Next to Chat, a community can have Forum for posts that should stick around and Events for live calls. The host picks which ones are on. Open Events and tap the going button to get reminders before a call starts.

Write a forum post

  1. 01

    Start a post

Open Forum and click New post. On a phone, tap the round pencil button in the corner.

  2. 02

    Fill it in

Add a title and your post, and pick a Category if one fits. You can also add a cover image and a video.

  3. 03

    Post it

Click Post. You can edit or delete your own post later from its menu. To add files, documents, boards, or tables, use Attach.

Notify everyone

Hosts (the host, admins, and moderators) see a Notify everyone switch at the bottom of a new post. Turn it on and everyone who can see the post gets a push. They also get it by email when the community's post emails are on. Leave it off and only people you @mention hear about it.

Hosts can also send any post that's already up, including a member's. Open the post's menu and pick Notify everyone. Each post can only be sent once, and editing a post never sends it again.

For news that should live in chat, use a channel where only hosts can post.

Turn off comments or likes

Use the switches at the bottom of a new post, or the post's ⋯ menu once it's up.

  • Turn off comments: no one can reply, hosts included. Replies already there stay.
  • Turn off likes: no one can heart the post. Hearts on replies still work.
  • You can change these on your own posts. Hosts can change them on any post.
  • To undo, open the post's menu and pick Turn on comments or Turn on likes.

Follow a category

Follow a category to get a push for every new post in it. Pushes only, no emails.

  • Web: open the category in the Forum and click Follow. Or right-click the category and pick Follow new posts.
  • iPhone and Android: tap the category, then tap Follow. Or long-press it and pick Follow new posts.

Do the same again to unfollow. If you turned the community's notifications off, you won't get these pushes either.

On the web, type @ in a post to mention someone.

Some categories are for hosts only (the host, admins, and moderators). They don't show in your Category picker, but you can still read and reply there.

Add a cover or a video

On the web, the post form has Cover and Video above the post. Both show on the post in the Forum list and at the top of the post.

  • Cover: click Add a cover image, then drag and zoom to frame it. Covers are 2:1 (1600 × 800).
  • Video: paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Tella, Descript, or Wistia link. Or click Upload a video for an MP4, MOV, or WebM file.
  • Uploaded videos count toward your workspace's storage, and your plan's file size limit applies. Removing the video or deleting the post frees that space.
  • With both, the cover shows before the video plays.

The iPhone and Android apps show covers and videos. Add them on the web.

Show a social post as a card

Paste a post link on its own line in your post. It shows as the same post card you see in chat, with the author, words, picture, and numbers. Works with X, Threads, YouTube, Substack, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

  • A link in the middle of a sentence stays a plain link.
  • You can add up to 6 cards to a post.
  • On a new post, the card can take a few seconds to show. Until then you see the link.
  • Click the save button on a card to keep the post in your Eden.
  • Cards show on the web, iPhone, and Android.

Read, reply, and heart

  • Sort the Forum by New or Best this week. Pick a category to see only its posts: on the web from the list beside the Forum, on a phone from the row at the top. All posts (web) or All (phone) shows everything.
  • The host and admins can show a category, or All posts, as a List or a Grid. On the web, use the two buttons above the posts, or right-click a category and pick one under Layout. Everyone sees the layout they pick.
  • Open a post to read it and the replies. Write in the reply box at the bottom.
  • Tap the heart on a post or reply to show it helped. Best this week ranks posts by hearts.
  • The post's writer or a moderator can Mark as best answer on a reply. It shows under the title.
  • To report a post or reply, open its menu and pick Report.
  • To share a post, open its ⋯ menu and pick Copy link. Members open the post. Anyone else lands on the community's page to join. See Share a link.

Send a post or event to a chat channel

On the web, right-click a post or an event (or open its ⋯ menu) and pick Send to channel.

  1. 01

    Add a message

Type a message to go with it, or leave the box empty.

  2. 02

    Pick the channel

You see the channels you can post in. The last one you were in is picked.

  3. 03

    Send

Click Send. The post or event shows in the chat as a card. Anyone can tap the card to open it.

  • Event cards show the date and time in each person's own time zone.
  • People can say they're going right on the card: I'm going on the web, Going? on a phone. Repeating events also get Go to all. Past or cancelled events show View.
  • The card keeps the words from when you sent it. Tapping it opens the latest version.
  • Cards show on iPhone and Android too. Send them from the web.

Save a post to your Eden

On the web, open a post's ⋯ menu (or right-click it) and pick Save to Eden. Pick your Library or a board, then click Save. The post lands as a document in your own workspace.

Pin and order categories

Pin the categories you read most. Your pins are just for you, so nobody else's list changes.

  • Web: right-click a category, then Pin to top. Drag your pins to put them in order.
  • iPhone and Android: long-press a category, then Pin to front. Use Move left or Move right to put your pins in order.
  • To unpin, open the same menu and pick Unpin.
  • The host, admins, and moderators can drag categories on the web to set the order everyone sees.
  • Hosts can also group categories under sections on the web. Click a section's label to fold it.
  • On the web, the same menu has New post here to write a post in that category.

Open an attachment

Posts can have files, documents, boards, and tables attached. Tap one to open it. When the poster allows it, Download saves the file and Add to workspace puts a copy in your Eden. Only members can open attachments. See Share files and resources in your Forum.

Kinds of posts

Go to an event

  1. 01

    Find it

Open Events. Upcoming is first. Times show in your time zone, with the host's time next to it when it's different.

  2. 02

    Say you're going

Click I'm going (on a phone, Going?). You get a reminder a day before, an hour before, and when it starts.

  3. 03

    Join

The join button shows up 10 minutes before the start and stays until the end. It opens the call link, or the host's Eden Live room.

  • Add to calendar saves one event to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or another calendar app.
  • Before the call, ask a question under Questions before the call. Heart other people's questions so the host sees the top ones first.
  • Some events are only for certain members. You only see the ones that are for you.
  • To send an event to a friend, click Copy link on the event (on a phone, tap the share button at the top). If the host turned on Open to anyone, they can say they're going too. See Share your events.
  • Bought a cohort that uses this community? Its sessions show on Events too. Their link shows 15 minutes before.

Go to every one

A repeating event has Go to all next to I'm going. Click it to say you're going to every one, including ones the host adds later. You get reminders for each.

  • Can't make one? Click Going on that one to skip it. The rest stay on.
  • Click Going to all again to stop. Weeks that already happened stay as they were.

Keep events in your calendar

  1. 01

    Open the calendar menu

Open Events and click Sync to calendar.

  2. 02

    Pick your calendar

Pick Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook. On Android, pick Other calendar app for anything else. Or click Copy link and paste it into your calendar's "add by URL".

Every event you're going to shows up, and it stays up to date. When the host moves or cancels a call, your calendar changes too. Google can take up to a day to catch up.

Add events straight to Google Calendar

If you connected Google Calendar in Your store → Calendar → Calls, Eden adds your events to it for you. No link needed.

  • You get every event you're going to, and every event you host.
  • Moves and cancels show up within seconds.
  • Events land on the calendar your booked calls go on.

It's on by default. To turn it off, open Events, click Sync to calendar, and switch off Your Google Calendar (on the web). That takes the events back off your calendar.

Watch an event you missed

Open Events, then Past. Open the event and click Watch the recording or Read the recap when the host has added them.
