Long-Form Outliner: a free Claude workflow for newsletter and script outlines
Set up the free Long-Form Outliner workflow and Claude interviews you, stress-tests your angle, proposes three structures, researches real titles in your niche, and saves a beat-by-beat outline to your Eden board. You write the piece.
Long-Form Outliner is a free workflow for the long-form half of your writing hour. Claude interviews you for the moments and numbers only you have, pushes on your perspective until the paradoxes show up, proposes three structures, researches how your niche packages the same promise, and saves one editable outline note to Eden. It never drafts the piece. That part stays yours.
How a session runs
This one is a conversation. Six stages, and each ends with a question for you. Claude does not move on until you answer.
- Source map. Claude reads whatever you bring first: a link, a draft, a saved Eden item, or a long-form row from your Weekly ideas note if the Weekly Content Strategist wrote one.
- Interview. Deep dive (one question at a time) or quick pass (four questions, then Claude shows its inferences to correct). It closes by reading back a prewriting card.
- Stress test. Paradoxes, specifics, a possible named method, what would never appear in the generic version, and where you still struggle.
- Routes. Three structure routes from six (contrarian argument, story-led transformation, framework, research-led explainer, case study, the list), each with its strength and risk.
- Packaging research. Real titles and subject lines from your niche on the platforms you publish to, reduced to skeletons. Claude reuses the frame and never another creator's substance.
- The outline note. Package, opening contract, beats with evidence and budgets, re-hook map, ending, emotional arc. Saved as Long-Form Outline: [working title] on your Long-form outlines board.
The fastest setup: one pasted line

Set up Eden's Long-Form Outliner workflow: fetch https://eden.so/skills/long-form-outliner/install.md and follow it.
Claude connects the Eden MCP if it isn't already, installs the workflow, and starts your first session, asking you to click only where it can't. No Eden account yet? Start free first, no card needed.
What a first session looks like
- 01
Claude asks how you publish (first session only)
Newsletter or article, YouTube script, or both; which platforms; and whether you prefer the deep dive or the quick pass. It saves the answers to an Outliner settings note and remembers.
- 02
You talk, Claude structures
The interview, the stress test, and the route cards, one stage at a time. Every sample line comes back in your voice, from your own answers.
- 03
Research, then the note
Claude studies the titles winning in your niche (at most 8 research calls), proposes five to eight packages across different families, and writes the outline note once you pick one. Open a new chat, paste the outline, and draft beat by beat.
Prefer it inside Eden?
The same method runs as a Custom AI in the One-Human Business kit. The Custom AI keeps its own memory and routines inside Eden and needs no Claude account. The workflow runs in your own Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP agent, as plain text files you can edit.
What it costs
The workflow is free and works on Eden's free plan. The interview, stress test, and routes spend nothing. Packaging research spends up to 8 Eden research calls, which use credits from your plan. If credits run out mid-session, Claude finishes the outline from the craft reference's title families, says so in one line, and links you to top up.
