Send email from your own domain

Send your store emails from an address like [email protected] instead of your Eden address, and decide if it's right for you.

Open Your store → Email marketing, click Settings, and find Your own domain. Type the address you want, click Set up, then add the four DNS records Eden shows. Needs Pro or higher.

Set it up

  1. 01

    Pick your address

Type the name before the @ (like dan or hello) and your domain, then click Set up.

  2. 02

    Add the four records

Where you bought the domain, add the three CNAME records and the TXT record. Click Copy next to each name and value. Skip the TXT record if your domain already has a DMARC record.

  3. 03

    Wait for the check marks

Eden checks on its own. Most records show up within an hour. Click Check now to look again. When all four have a check mark, your emails come from your new address.

  • Some DNS providers add your domain to the name for you. If yours does, paste the name without it.
  • On Cloudflare, set the CNAME records to DNS only.
  • Replies still go to the address in Replies go to.

Should you use your own domain?

Good for youWorth knowing
Your sending reputation is yours. Other senders on Eden can't drag it down.It cuts both ways. If people mark your emails as spam, your domain takes the hit.
Readers see an address from you, so they trust it and open it more.A domain that has never sent email starts with no history. Build up slowly.
The reputation you build stays with your domain if you ever switch email tools. It takes about 10 minutes of DNS setup.
Your emails match your website and your brand. If the records get deleted, emails go back to your Eden address until you fix them.

Stay on your Eden address if you're just starting, your list is small, or you don't own a domain. It's already set up to land in the inbox.

Keep your everyday inbox safe

If you also use your domain for normal email, send from a subdomain like news.yourname.com (your address becomes [email protected]). Spam reports on your sales emails then stay away from the mail you send by hand.

If something's not working

  • A record never gets a check mark: check for typos, and that the name doesn't end in your domain twice (like yourname.com.yourname.com).
  • "Another store already uses that domain": contact support if the domain is yours.
  • "Free inboxes like Gmail can't send for you": you need a domain you own. Gmail, Outlook, and iCloud addresses can't be used.
  • The records stopped checking out: Eden emails you, and the card shows the records again. Add them back and your emails switch to your domain once they check out.
  • Your plan dropped below Pro: emails come from your Eden address. Your domain stays set up and comes back when you upgrade.
