Set community rules
Write a short list of rules that new members read and agree to before they post.
On the web, open your community's product, go to the Community step, and fill in Rules. Turn on Ask new members to agree and click Save. New members see the rules once and tap I agree before their first post.
Add your rules
- 01
Open the Community step
Open the community's product in your store and click Community in the steps.
- 02
Write the rules
Under Rules, type each rule in its own box. Click Add a rule for more. You can have up to 15, each up to 300 characters.
- 03
Turn it on and save
Turn on Ask new members to agree, then click Save. Click See what members see to check the pop-up first.
What members see
- The rules show the first time they open the community, as a step right after your welcome pop-up.
- They can read everything right away. Posting waits until they tap I agree.
- If they tap Not now, the chat box says Agree to the rules to post with a Read the rules button.
- Anyone can read the rules again from the ⋯ menu, under Community rules, or from the Rules row in the members list.
- People who join with a quick access link agree too.
- It all works the same in the Eden app on iPhone and Android.
Until someone agrees, they can't send chat messages, voice notes, or images, write Library posts or replies, or ask event questions. Reactions, hearts, and RSVPs still work.
The first time you turn it on, everyone already in has to agree too. You, your admins, and your moderators never have to agree.
Rules on your phone
Members can read and agree to the rules in the Eden app. Writing or changing the rules is on the web only.
If a member tries to post before they agree, the rules pop up.
Change the rules
Edit the list and click Save. Fixing the wording doesn't ask anyone again.
To make everyone agree to the new rules, click Ask everyone to agree again, then Ask again. Every member sees the rules the next time they open the community and can't post until they agree.
Turn the rules off
Turn off Ask new members to agree and click Save. Nobody is asked, and everyone can post. Your list stays saved for later.
Manage your community
Set up channels, Library categories, and the welcome pop-up on the product, build a team of admins and moderators, and handle reports, mutes, and bans.
