Manage your community
Set up channels, Library categories, and the welcome pop-up on the product, build a team of admins and moderators, and handle reports, mutes, and bans.
Set up your community on its product: open the product and go to the Community step. Run it day to day from inside: click the shield (Admin) at the bottom of the icon bar on the left for members, reports, and slow mode. On your phone, tap the same shield at the top.
A red number on the shield counts open reports and held messages.
What's in the Admin panel
| Section | What it's for | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | This week's numbers, what needs you, and storage | You and admins |
| Reports | Messages and posts members flagged | Moderators and up |
| Held | New members' links and images waiting for review | Moderators and up |
| Members | Search, mutes, and bans. You and admins also get roles, invites, tags, and Export CSV. | Moderators and up |
| Channels | Slow mode for each channel | Moderators and up |
Everything else is setup and lives on the product's Community step, on the web: which sections members see, channels, Library categories, the welcome pop-up, the icon and cover, the welcome line, and member emails. Click Edit setup at the top of the Admin panel to jump there. Only you see this button. Teammates with Can edit or Admin store access can open setup from Store → Communities.
The cover is also the product's cover: it shows on the product page, in link previews, and on invite links. Use an image 1200 × 630 pixels.
Make it just a group chat
Chat is always on. Turn off the Library, Events, or both, and members stop seeing them on the web and in the phone apps.
- 01
Open Sections
Open the product and go to the Community step. Sections is right under Your community.
- 02
Turn off what you won't use
Switch off Library or Events. It saves right away.
- Nothing is deleted. Turn a section back on and its posts or events come back.
- While it's off, nobody can add new posts or events there, and posts from Post new things here stop.
- With Events off, event reminders stop and events leave members' calendar links.
- Welcome pop-up links to a post, resource, or event in a section that's off don't show.
- With only Chat on, phones show no tab row. On the web, the icon bar on the left goes away for members in only one community. With one channel too, it looks like a plain group chat.
Pick where people land
Choose what members see the first time they open your community: Chat, one channel (like a "Start here"), the Library, or Events.
- 01
Open Sections
Open the product and go to the Community step. Where people land is at the bottom of Sections.
- 02
Pick a spot
Choose from the list. It saves right away.
- It only counts for someone's first open on each device.
- After that, the web and desktop app open where they left off. Phones open the channel list.
- Chat opens General on the web and the channel list on phones.
- If the spot is turned off or its channel is closed, people land on Chat instead.
Add a channel
A new community is one chat, General. Members see no channel list until there's a second one.
- 01
Open Channels
Open the product and go to the Community step. Channels is there.
- 02
Add it
Pick an emoji and type a name in New channel name.
- 03
Change its settings
Click the channel to open its settings. Drag the handle on the left to reorder.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Icon | An emoji, or click Upload image (or drop one on the icon). An image shows instead of the emoji, on the web and on phones. |
| Only hosts can post | Members read and react. Only you, admins, and moderators post. Good for announcements. |
| Only for | Only buyers of the products you pick see it. A cohort run or a tag, like VIP, works too. You and admins can set this. |
| Slow mode | Members wait 10s, 30s, 1m, 5m, or 15m between messages. Your team doesn't wait. Moderators can also set it in Admin → Channels. |
| Close channel | Nobody can post, but people can still read it. Reopen channel brings it back. |
| Delete channel | Deletes the channel and all its messages for good. See Close or delete a channel. |
A community can have up to 12 open channels. Closed ones don't count. General can't be closed, locked, or limited.
Add, edit, or reorder channels from the chat
On the web, you and admins can click + next to Channels in the chat. Pick an emoji or click Upload image (or drop an image on the icon), type a name, and choose whether only hosts can post. To limit who sees it, pick products, cohort runs, or tags (like VIP) under Only for. Leave it empty so every member sees it.
You, admins, and moderators can drag a channel up or down in the same list. Everyone sees the new order right away. Channels stay in the order you set, not by who spoke last. Each one shows its newest message, who sent it, and when.
To edit a channel, hover it and click ⋯, or right-click it. You, admins, and moderators can:
- Edit channel: change the name, icon, who can post, and slow mode. You and admins also get Only for.
- Only hosts can post: turn it on or off in one click.
- Close channel (click twice) or Reopen channel.
- Delete channel…: you and admins only.
Close or delete a channel
| Choice | What happens | Undo |
|---|---|---|
| Close | Nobody can post. People can still read it. It stops counting toward the 12. | Reopen channel |
| Delete | The channel is gone with its messages, thread replies, reactions, pins, images, and voice notes. | None. It can't be undone. |
Before anything is deleted, Eden shows how many messages and replies will go. Click Delete channel to confirm, or Close it instead to keep them. Library posts tagged with the channel stay, without the tag. A welcome pop-up link to it is removed.
Only you and admins can delete a channel, on the web. General can't be deleted.
Set up Library categories
The Library has its own categories, separate from chat channels. Members see them beside the Library on the web and as a row at the top on a phone, and pick one when they post. Every community starts with these:
| Category | Who can post |
|---|---|
| 📌 Start here | Hosts only |
| 📘 Guides | Everyone |
| 🔍 Breakdowns | Everyone |
| 🏆 Wins | Everyone |
| 🧰 Resources | Hosts only |
Hosts are you, your admins, and your moderators. They can post in any category.
- 01
Open Library categories
Open the product, go to the Community step, and find Library categories. It's on the web only.
- 02
Add one
Pick an emoji, type a name in New category name, and click +.
- 03
Change its settings
Click a category to open it. Drag it by the handle to reorder.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Icon | An emoji, or click Upload image (or drop one on the icon). An image shows instead of the emoji. |
| Who can post | Everyone, or Hosts only to lock it. Members can still read and reply. |
| Only for | Only buyers of the products you pick see the category and its posts. |
| Close category | Takes it out of the Library and the post picker. Its posts stay under All posts. |
A Library can have up to 12 open categories. Posts from before categories have none and show under All posts.
Add, edit, close, or delete a category from the Library
On the web, you and admins can click + next to Categories in the Library. Pick an emoji or upload an image, type a name, and choose whether only hosts can post. It opens right away. To limit who sees it, use Only for in the product's Community step.
Right-click a category in the Library list to change it. You, admins, and moderators can:
- Edit category: change the name, icon, and who can post.
- Only hosts can post: turn it on or off in one click.
- Close category: click twice. Nobody can post in it, and its posts stay under All posts. Closed categories sit under Closed at the bottom of your list. Click one to Reopen category or delete it.
- Delete category…: you and admins only. It deletes the category and every post in it, for good. Eden shows how many posts and replies will go first. Click Close it instead to keep them.
The Resources category can be closed but not deleted, since it holds your product's resources. Anyone who can post in a category can right-click it for New post here.
The Resources category fills itself: each resource you add on the product's Resources step shows up there as a post once you publish. See Add resources to your community.
Build your team
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Host (you) | Everything, including making admins. |
| Admin | Runs it with you: members, reports, slow mode, channels, and categories. Can't open the product's Community step, change the price, or delete it. |
| Moderator | Deletes and pins messages, mutes and bans, handles reports and held messages, sets slow mode. |
- Promote a member: in Members, click ⋯ next to them and pick Make admin or Make moderator. Only you can make admins.
- Invite by email: under Invite an admin or moderator, type their email, pick a role, and click Invite. If they don't have Eden yet, they get the role when they sign in with that email.
- Your store team joins on its own. People with Can edit or Admin store access become admins. Can view becomes a moderator. Change it in Settings → Members.
- Bring your store team in now: under Your team in Members, click Make admin or Make moderator next to a teammate. They're in before they ever open it. Teammates can also open any of your store's communities from Store → Communities on the web.
- Make someone else the owner: on the web, in Members, click ⋯ next to them and pick Make owner…. You see what changes first, then click Make owner. The owner before them becomes an admin; whoever owns the workspace stays an owner. Nobody is removed, and your store and its products stay where they are.
- Tag members or share a quick link: on the web, Members also has Tags in each ⋯ menu and a Quick links section. You and your admins can also click anyone's name and use Add tags on their card. Moderators see the tags but can't change them. See Tag members and share quick links.
Welcome new members
- 01
Open the welcome pop-up
Open the product, go to the Community step, and under Welcome pop-up turn on Show the welcome pop-up.
- 02
Write it
Fill in Title and Message. Add a YouTube or Loom link or upload an image or video. Add up to 3 Start here links to a channel, Library post, event, resource, or web page.
- 03
Check and save
Click Preview to see what new members see, then Save.
New members see it once, the first time they open the community, as the first step of a short welcome. After it come your rules (if you set them), then Set up your profile, then Say hi in General. Without a pop-up, your Welcome line in General shows as a note right under their "joined" line in General instead (only they see it). To show both, turn on Also show with the pop-up under Welcome line on the Community step.
In Overview, Quiet members lists people who joined in the last 14 days and haven't said anything. Welcome them puts a hello that mentions them in General's message box. It only sends when you send it.
Handle reports and held messages
- Reports: members right-click a message, then pick Report, and pick a reason. For each one, click Keep it, Delete, mute the writer, or Ban them. Muting or banning also deletes it.
- Held messages: links and images from people in their first day wait here. Only moderators and the writer see them until you click Approve. People who got in through one of your products, an invite, or your store team skip this.
Mute, ban, or remove someone
In Members, click ⋯ next to the person.
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Mute… | Pick 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, or Until I unmute. They can read but can't write. |
| Ban | They leave and can't join again. Admins can Unban from the Banned filter. |
| Remove | Takes them out of the community. |
To hide someone's bio and links, click their name to open their card, then Hide bio and links. It only hides them in your community. Their photo and name stay. Click Show bio and links to undo it.
To pin or delete one message, right-click it and pick Pin or Delete.
A deleted message disappears for everyone, with no trace left in the chat. If it started a thread, the thread goes too.
Library posts and events have a ⋯ too, on the card in the list and on the open post or event. On the web, you, admins, and moderators can Edit, Pin to the top, or Delete any post. On an event, you can edit this run or the whole series, cancel it, or post a recap after it ends. Members see Report on other people's posts.
Post your newsletters and events automatically
On the product's Community step, under Post new things here, turn on Newsletter issues, New events, or both. Each one posts an announcement from you in the Library with a link, and members get a push. Both start off. Events limited to buyers of one product don't post.
When your storage fills up
Photos, voice notes, and videos posted in your community use your Eden workspace storage, the same space as your own uploads. Text doesn't count, and messages and posts are never deleted on a timer.
- Overview in the Admin panel shows how much storage is used, and how much is this community's.
- At 80%, the Storage card moves to the top of Overview, and you get a push and an email.
- When it's full, members can still send messages, but not photos, voice notes, or videos. They see "This community is out of file space. Messages still send." You get a push and an email, at most once a day.
- To make room, click Get more storage to upgrade, or delete files you don't need. A deleted message or post frees its files about 30 days later.
