Searching for and tracking a creator

This article covers searching for a specific creator, what their profile shows, and how to track them through a list.

Searching for a creator

Open Discover and click the Creators tab. The search bar at the top accepts a creator's handle (@dankoe) on any of the supported platforms.

Eden returns the closest matching profile. If we have not indexed the creator before, the search comes back empty. Searching by their exact handle triggers the indexer in the background, so a creator who was missing on first search will usually be available a minute or two later.

The same search bar also accepts plain-language topics — "stoic philosophy", "how to grow a youtube channel" — and finds creators whose recent posts match, under a Talk about this section. A few platform notes:

• YouTube and Substack accept the handle (@channelname) or the part of the URL that comes after the slash.
• LinkedIn is the awkward one. LinkedIn does not show handles in profile names. Open the creator's LinkedIn profile in a browser, look at the URL (linkedin.com/in/dan-koe), and the slug after /in/ is the handle to paste into Eden.
• X / Twitter uses the handle without the @ sign, but Eden tolerates either.

If a creator does not appear after a few minutes:

• Confirm their account is public. Eden only indexes public accounts.
• Confirm the handle exactly. Handles are case-insensitive but typos still miss.
• Email [email protected] if the account is public, well-known, and not in the directory after a day.

What a creator profile shows

Open any creator and you see:

• Their accounts on every platform Eden has linked for them (a creator who posts on YouTube and X under the same brand will usually show both, once both have been indexed).
• Their recent posts in a sortable feed. The default sort is Top liked. The dropdown also offers Top viewed, Top outlier, Most shared (TikTok), and Recent. Read reading the outlier multiplier for what the outlier sort actually ranks against.
• The creator's typical engagement on each platform, so you can see what "normal" looks like for them.

Each post on the profile is a card you can save to one of your boards with the standard "+" affordance. Saving from a creator's profile is the right move when you want to study one creator's pattern in depth.

Adding a creator to a list

Eden does not have a global "follow" button. The way to keep a creator's posts in view is to add them to a list.

   Click Add to list on the creator's profile

   The button sits at the top of the profile next to their name.

   Pick a list, or create a new one

   A small picker shows your existing lists. Pick one to add the creator there. To create a new list, type a name in the picker and confirm.

   Open the list to read the feed

   Switch to the My lists tab, click the list, and you see every recent post from every creator in the list, ranked by outlier multiplier. The list is the only place these posts surface as a feed; they are not guaranteed to bubble up in the main Discover tab.

Tips for who to add to a list

A few patterns that work:

• Three or four creators in your niche who post on your platform. Adding more than ten to one list dilutes the feed.
• One or two creators outside your niche whose craft you respect. Cross-pollination shows up in your work.
• Creators with a similar audience size to yours. Their outliers are usually more reproducible than outliers from creators 100x larger.
