Gumroad alternatives in 2026: 8 cheaper places to sell
Gumroad takes 10% + 50¢ per sale, or 30% through Discover. Here are 8 Gumroad alternatives with lower fees, compared on price, tax handling, and payouts.
Gumroad costs nothing a month, but it takes 10% + 50¢ of every direct sale plus card processing, and 30% of sales that come through its Discover marketplace. Its real advantage is tax: Gumroad is the merchant of record, so it collects and pays sales tax and VAT for you. The best Gumroad alternative depends on what you want to keep. Payhip and Lemon Squeezy also handle tax for a smaller cut. Stan and Eden give you a real storefront for $29 a month. Eden is the pick if you sell courses or coaching and want an AI that teaches buyers what they bought.
This guide is for sellers on Gumroad now, or choosing where to sell a first product. Full disclosure: we make Eden. Prices and fees were checked on each company's own site in September 2026. Card processing (usually 2.9% + 30¢ per US sale) is extra everywhere unless we say it's included.
What Gumroad costs now
- Direct sales: 10% + 50¢ per sale, plus card processing (2.9% + 30¢) or PayPal fees.
- Discover marketplace sales: a flat 30%, processing included.
- Big months: once your paid sales pass $20,000 in a calendar month, direct sales drop to 5% + 50¢ for the rest of that month.
- No monthly plan.
- Payouts: $100 minimum balance. Pick daily (US only), weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Sales are held at least 7 days on the non-daily schedules.
- Tax: since January 1, 2025, Gumroad collects and pays sales tax and VAT worldwide as the merchant of record.
On a $30 template, that's $3.50 to Gumroad and about $1.17 to processing, so you keep about $25.33. On $1,000 a month in $30 sales, Gumroad's own fee is about $117.
Every fee, with examples, is in Gumroad fees explained. That fee buys real things: a checkout that works in almost any country, no tax paperwork, and a marketplace that can bring you buyers. The question is whether you use those enough to pay for them.

1. Eden
Eden is a creator workspace with a store and a free link-in-bio page. Where Gumroad sells a file, Eden sells the file and the help: a course, template, or guide can come with an AI that knows your material and walks each buyer through it.
What it does well:
- Every product shape. Digital downloads (files, templates, boards, or a zip), courses, cohorts, coaching, memberships, bundles, and Custom AI products.
- Downloads that open inside the product. Buyers read PDFs, EPUBs, video, and audio in Eden, copy boards and tables into their own workspace, or download the originals. You choose per file.
- Selling tools Gumroad doesn't have. Order bumps, one-click upsells after checkout, bundles, timed sales, testimonials, and content links that open your page with the right product on top.
- Money goes straight to your Stripe. No $100 payout minimum held by a middleman.
- Keep Gumroad for checkout if you like. Eden can use your Gumroad product as the checkout and give buyers access in Eden automatically, with no Eden cut. See use your own checkout.
Where it falls short: Eden isn't a merchant of record, so you handle sales tax through Stripe yourself. There's no marketplace sending you buyers, and selling needs the $29 Starter plan. Eden sells in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, or AUD.
The fee math: Eden Starter ($29 + 5%) costs less than Gumroad's 10% + 50¢ once you sell about $450 a month in $30 products.
Price: page free. Selling from $29/mo, 5% per sale.
Best for: creators who sell what they know and want buyers to get results, not just files.
2. Payhip
Payhip feels the most like Gumroad: simple product pages, digital downloads, courses, memberships, and coaching. Every plan has every feature, and it collects and pays EU and UK VAT and US sales tax for you.
Where it falls short: the storefront is plain, and there's no marketplace bringing buyers.
Price: Free with a 5% fee, Plus $29/mo with 2%, Pro $99/mo with 0%.
Best for: Gumroad sellers who want tax handled at half the fee.
3. Lemon Squeezy
Lemon Squeezy is a merchant of record like Gumroad, built for software and digital products, with license keys and subscriptions.
Where it falls short: Stripe bought it in 2024, and in January 2026 Lemon Squeezy said its future is Stripe Managed Payments and it will make moving there easy. It's still open to sign-ups, but its future as a standalone store is unclear. See Lemon Squeezy alternatives.
Price: 5% + 50¢ per sale. Some payment methods cost more.
Best for: software sellers who want tax handled and are fine with the Stripe transition.
4. Stan Store
Stan turns your link in bio into a store for downloads, courses, coaching calls, and memberships, with 0% transaction fees.
Where it falls short: no free plan, and discount codes, upsells, and email marketing are on the $99 Creator Pro plan. You handle your own sales tax. See Stan Store fees.
Price: Creator $29/mo, Creator Pro $99/mo. 0% fee.
Best for: creators who sell from social media and sell enough to beat a flat monthly price.
5. Ko-fi
Ko-fi started as a tip jar and now sells memberships, commissions, and shop items.
Where it falls short: the shop is basic, and it's built for supporters more than customers.
Price: free with a 5% fee on shop sales and memberships (0% on tips), or Gold at $12/mo for 0%.
Best for: creators whose audience already supports them and wants small extras.
6. Polar
Polar is a merchant of record aimed at developers: software, license keys, subscriptions, and usage billing.
Where it falls short: it's built for developer products, not courses or templates for a general audience.
Price: Starter free at 5% + 50¢, Pro $20/mo at 3.8% + 40¢, with lower rates on bigger plans.
Best for: developers selling code, tools, or software.
7. Sellfy
Sellfy is a branded store with 0% transaction fees, digital products, subscriptions, and print-on-demand.
Where it falls short: each plan has a yearly sales cap ($10,000 on Starter), so the price climbs as you grow.
Price: Starter $29/mo, Business $79/mo, Premium $159/mo. Cheaper billed yearly.
Best for: sellers who want their own store look with no per-sale fee.
8. Etsy
Etsy sells a lot of printables, planners, and templates, because buyers already search there.
Where it falls short: $0.20 per listing every four months, a 6.5% transaction fee, 3% + 25¢ processing, and Offsite Ads that can take 12% to 15% of a sale. You're also one of thousands of similar listings.
Price: no monthly fee.
Best for: printables and templates that people find by search.
