How to sell Notion templates (2026 guide)
How to sell Notion templates: pick a niche, build and demo it, price free, lite, and pro tiers, and choose Notion Marketplace, Gumroad, Etsy, or your own store.
To sell Notion templates, build one template for a narrow group of people, record a short demo, and sell a duplicate link to it. The Notion Marketplace takes 8% + 40¢ per sale (plus 1% if you're paid outside the US), handles sales tax, and can lock the template to the buyer's workspace, but paid selling needs Notion's approval first. Gumroad, Etsy, or your own store let you start today, though there the buyer gets a public duplicate link they could pass on.
This guide is only about Notion. For Canva, Sheets, printables, and the general method, read how to sell templates online first. Full disclosure: we make Eden, a creator workspace with a store. Notion, Gumroad, and Etsy rules below were checked on their own sites in September 2026.
Pick a niche Notion people already search for
Notion buyers browse by job. "Planner" is crowded. "Client tracker for freelance video editors" is not, and the right person knows on sight it's for them.
- Start from a system you run in Notion yourself. You know it works, and you can show it working.
- Pick a group you can reach. If your audience is writers, build for writers. A template for dentists won't sell to a writing audience.
- Check the Marketplace. Search your idea on the Notion Marketplace. Lots of results means demand. Look at what the top ones leave out.
Build it so buyers finish setup
Notion templates get refunded when buyers open them and feel lost. Build for the first ten minutes.
- A Start here page at the top: what it's for and the first three things to do.
- One filled-in example row or page, so buyers see it working before they touch it.
- Plain database names and views. "This week," not "View 3."
- Nothing buyers can't open. Notion warns that a template shouldn't include content the person duplicating it can't access, like linked pages from your private workspace.
- Test it on three people. Watch where they stop, and fix that.
Show it: demo video and GIFs
People buy Notion templates with their eyes. Your listing needs:
- A 60 to 90 second demo video. Open the template, add a real entry, show the view that makes it worth it.
- Three or four GIFs or screenshots, each showing one thing: the dashboard, the weekly view, the filled-in example.
- A longer walkthrough (5 to 10 minutes) for buyers only. It cuts support emails.
The same demo clips become your posts on X, TikTok, and YouTube later.
Write the listing
Notion asks for a clear title, an accurate description, the right categories, and good screenshots or video. Every platform rewards the same things:
- Title: who it's for plus what it does. "Freelance client tracker for video editors."
- First line: the result. "See every client, invoice, and deadline on one page."
- What's included: a short list of the pages and databases.
- Who it's not for. It lowers refunds and builds trust.
- What they need: a Notion account, and whether it works on a free plan.
For more on the page itself, see how to write a sales page.
Price it in tiers: free, lite, pro
One template, three versions, is the common setup for Notion sellers:
| Tier | What's in it | Job |
|---|---|---|
| Free | A small, useful slice (one page or one tracker) | Gets you emails and reviews |
| Lite | The full template | Your main sale |
| Pro | Template plus extra pages, walkthrough, updates | For buyers who want everything, done |
Price by the time the template saves, not by page count, and compare it with similar templates on the platform you sell on. More in how to price digital products.
Bundles come next. Once you have three related templates (say, content calendar, idea bank, and sponsor tracker), sell them together for less than the three separately.
Where to sell Notion templates
| Where | Fee per sale | Buyer gets |
|---|---|---|
| Notion Marketplace | 8% + 40¢ (+1% if paid outside the US) | Template copied into their workspace |
| Gumroad | 10% + 50¢ | A duplicate link |
| Etsy | 6.5% + $0.20 listing + 3% + 25¢ (US) | A file, usually a PDF with the link |
| Your own store | Varies (Eden: 5% on $29/mo, plus Stripe) | A duplicate link behind the purchase |
Notion Marketplace
- Fee: 8% + 40¢ per paid sale, plus a 1% currency fee if you're paid outside the US. All sales are in USD.
- Tax: Notion is the merchant of record and handles sales tax and VAT.
- Payouts: every two weeks, on Thursdays, once you have at least $20. Each sale is held 14 days first, to cover refunds.
- Approval: you set up a creator profile (a cover photo and bio sit on it), join a waitlist, get approved, then connect Stripe. Notion says review may take a few months.
- Delivery: the template is copied straight into the buyer's workspace. With Restricted access locking, buyers can duplicate it inside that workspace but can't move it to another one or share it out.
- Refunds: buyers can ask within 14 days, and a refund removes every copy from their workspace.
Notion's terms also forbid buyers from reposting templates they bought from other creators.
Gumroad
No monthly fee, 10% + 50¢ per sale, and Gumroad handles sales tax as merchant of record. You publish the template as a Notion Site with Duplicate as template on, and put that link in the product. Gumroad has its own guide for selling Notion templates.
Etsy
Etsy sells files, so Notion sellers usually deliver a PDF with the duplicate link inside. Etsy's creativity rules require digital items to be your own original design, so resold template packs you didn't make don't qualify. Fees: $0.20 per listing, 6.5% of the sale, and 3% + 25¢ processing for US sellers.
Your own store
Your own store keeps more of each sale and gives you every buyer's email. You bring the traffic.
A note on duplicate links
Outside the Marketplace, delivery is a Notion Site with Duplicate as template turned on. Anyone who has that link can duplicate it. Notion also says to use a separate copy with its own site link for other platforms, because a paid Marketplace template's site link sends visitors to Notion checkout. So if you sell in both places, keep two copies.
You can't stop a public link from being shared. Make the paid version worth more than the link: a walkthrough, updates, and help only buyers get.
Promote it on X, TikTok, and YouTube
- X: post one screenshot or GIF with the problem it solves. Put the link in a reply.
- TikTok and Reels: screen-record a 20-second before-and-after. "My client list before, my client list now."
- YouTube: a full tutorial on the method, using the template on screen. Link it in the description. See how to sell on YouTube.
- Give the free tier away everywhere. It builds your list, and your list buys the lite and pro versions.
How to sell Notion templates on Eden
On Eden, a Notion template is a digital download: Your store → Products → New product → Digital download.
- Put the duplicate link in a document inside the product. Buyers see it only after they buy, instead of on a public page.
- Add the walkthrough next to it. Upload your demo video and a setup guide in the same product.
- Add a Custom AI if you like. Switch Product type to Custom AI and buyers get an AI that knows your template and helps them set it up for their own work. That help stays with the buyer even if the link gets passed around. See how to sell a custom AI.
- Tiers and bundles. Sell the free tier at a price of 0 (signups can go to Kit, beehiiv, GoHighLevel, or Substack), the lite and pro versions as separate products, and a bundle of all three. Order bumps and upsells after checkout work too. See upsells and order bumps.
- Your link-in-bio page. Every product shows on your free page at
yourname.eden.so.
Where Eden falls short for Notion sellers: Eden can't lock a Notion link to one workspace the way the Marketplace does. Once a buyer has the link, they can share it. There's no Marketplace-style browse traffic, so you bring the buyers. And Eden isn't the merchant of record, so sales tax through Stripe is yours to handle. Selling needs the Starter plan at $29 a month, and Eden takes 5% per sale. Step-by-step setup is in sell a digital download.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Notion take when you sell templates?
8% + 40¢ per paid sale on the Notion Marketplace, plus 1% if you're paid outside the US. Notion handles sales tax and pays out every two weeks once you reach $20.
Can I sell Notion templates without Marketplace approval?
Yes. Publish the template as a Notion Site with Duplicate as template on, and sell that link through Gumroad, Etsy, or your own store. Notion's approval is only needed to sell on the Marketplace.
Can buyers share my Notion template?
A public duplicate link can be passed on by anyone who has it. On the Marketplace, Restricted access locking keeps a bought template inside the buyer's workspace, and Notion's terms forbid reposting bought templates.
Can I sell the same template on Notion and Gumroad?
Yes. Notion suggests making a separate copy with its own site link for other platforms, so the Marketplace link keeps pointing to Notion checkout.
How much should I charge for a Notion template?
Look at similar templates on the platform you'll sell on, then price by the time yours saves. A free, lite, and pro version lets each buyer pick their level.
