Create your first Custom AI
Build one through a guided chat, from your writing, or by filling in the fields yourself.
Open Custom AI in the sidebar, click +, and pick Build a Custom AI. Describe what you want, answer a few questions, and click Create Custom AI on the card it shows you.
Pick how to build it

| Build from scratch | When you already know what you want. You fill in every field yourself. |
Already have a chat that's going well? Open its right sidebar and click Save as Custom AI.
Build from scratch

Name it
In Configure → Profile, give it a name that says what it's for, like "Newsletter Writer". Add an image or pick an icon.

Write the instructions
Say how it should behave and what a good answer looks like. Be concrete: "always give three angles before drafting" beats "be creative".

Add knowledge
On the Knowledge tab, add creators, links, files, or anything from your workspace. See connect knowledge.

Add starters and save
Add up to 4 Conversation starters, like "Draft the next issue". Click Create Custom AI.
Start chatting
Click Start a conversation on its Overview, or Chat on its card. Your starters show up as buttons.
It can also search your past chats with it. Ask "What did we decide about pricing?" and it links you to the right conversation. It only searches chats you started, not other members' chats.
Change it later
- Edit anything on the Configure tab. Changes save on their own and apply to new replies.
- Or ask in chat: "Update your instructions to ask for my audience first." Review the card and click Update Custom AI.
- Made a mistake? Use ⋯ → Version history to restore an earlier setup.
Some ready-made Custom AIs from Explore AIs are managed by their publisher. They have no Configure tab, so build your own if you want to change one.
