Where did Prompts and Identities go?
Prompts and Identities became Custom AIs. Nothing was deleted — every prompt, identity, link, and board card still works, now backed by a single, more capable object.
Prompts and Identities merged into one thing: Custom AI. Everything you built was carried over — nothing was deleted, and every old link, shortcut, and board card still works. This page explains exactly what changed and where each piece went.
Why the change
Prompts held reusable instructions. Identities held your voice. Custom AIs hold instructions, voice, and knowledge in one object you can chat with, share, and improve — so instead of learning three systems, you configure one.
Where each thing went
- Your saved Prompts → each became a Custom AI with the same name, the same instructions, and any attached reference files connected as knowledge. Find them in Custom AI → My AIs.
- Your Identities → each became a voice Custom AI with the same name. The full profile — mission, point of view, vocabulary, rhythm, avoid/prefer rules — was written into a document in your Library called "[name] voice profile", attached as live knowledge. You can open, read, and edit it like any note; see voice Custom AIs.
- Eden's starter prompts → became built-in Custom AIs in Explore, improved along the way.
What still works, unchanged
- Public links you shared. An old prompt link opens the Custom AI that replaced it. Nothing you posted breaks.
- Board cards. A prompt card on a board runs its Custom AI successor.
- The
/menu in chat. Your shortcuts now launch the matching Custom AI. - Older phone apps. If your phone hasn't updated yet, it keeps working — it sees your Custom AIs through the old interface until you update.
- Eden MCP. Connections from Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT keep resolving the same ids they always did.
What's actually different day to day
- One Custom AI section in the sidebar instead of separate Prompts and Identities tabs.
- Your voice is applied by chatting with (or attaching) a voice Custom AI, rather than a global toggle.
- Each Custom AI keeps its own chats, so work stays organized by companion rather than in one long chat list.
Common questions
- "My prompt behaved slightly differently before." Open the Custom AI and read its instructions — they're the same text your prompt had, now editable in place. Adjust and save; changes are versioned and restorable.
- "I had an identity I never used." It's a voice Custom AI now, sitting quietly in My AIs. Delete it if you want — the voice profile document in your Library is yours to keep either way.
- "Can I still combine a voice with a task?" Yes — attach your voice profile document as knowledge on any Custom AI, so your Newsletter Writer writes in your voice.
