Plan your content in the Planner

Track every post from idea to posted in a planner table, and see planned posts on your calendar.

·4 min read

Click Planner in the sidebar. Pick a template and click Set up my planner. Each idea is a planner item with its stage, who it's assigned to, and its date. You don't need a strategy first.

Set up your first planner

  1. 01

    Open the Planner

    Click Planner in the sidebar.

  2. 02

    Pick a template

Choose Content planner for every kind of post, or one made for one kind. Written posts (X, Threads, LinkedIn, Substack Notes), YouTube videos, Newsletter and articles, or Short-form video. The Content planner keeps it simple. Each item has a Status of Potential idea, Next up, In progress, or Done, plus a Platform and a Date.

  3. 03

    Make it

Click Set up my planner. Already have a table you want to use? Click Use a table I have instead.

A planner is a normal table in your Library. Switch it between Board, Table, Calendar, and List. Calendar shows items on their Date. You can add your own columns too. See Tables.

Add, switch, or rename planners

Click the planner's name at the top. The menu has:

  • Your other planners. Click one to switch to it.
  • Rename. You can also double-click the name.
  • Unpin from Planner. The table leaves the Planner but stays in your Library.
  • Delete table. It moves to Trash with every row, and you can bring it back from there.
  • Add a planner, the button at the bottom. Pick Content planner for every kind of post, or a template made for one kind (Written posts, YouTube videos, Newsletter and articles, Short-form video). Under Something simple, pick To-do list for a plain checklist with a Due date, or Blank table to build your own. To add a table you already have, click Choose a table from your workspace at the bottom.

Open a planner item

Click a planner item to open it on the right. You see all its fields in one list.

FieldWhat it's for
StatusWhere it's at. Click to move it.
FilesEverything the item needs: research boards, the script or draft doc, the video
PostsWhat goes out. Tweets, threads, and captions are written right here.

On the Team plan, with a teammate or a client in the workspace, the top of the card also has Send for review. See Review and approve content.

The first time you open a planner, a window shows the three steps. Click Start planning to close it. To see it again, click ? next to New at the top of the planner.

Research and write

  1. 01

    Link what you have

Open the planner item and click Files. Pick a board, doc, or video from your Library or a board. Click + to add another. Files holds as many as you need.

  2. 02

    Start something new

Click ⋯ on the item, or use the buttons in its panel. Write it in a doc makes a document, and Make a board makes a board for links, posts, and notes. Both land in Files. Write with Eve hands the idea to Eve.

  3. 03

    Come back to it

Click anything in Files, then Open full screen or Open in side pane to keep the planner open next to it. Remove takes it off the item without deleting it.

The same three buttons work on any table in your Library, not just planners.

Make the item's posts

  1. 01

    Create a post

Open the planner item and, under Posts, click Create a post (Write the post for short posts). In the table, click + Post in the Posts column.

  2. 02

Finish it in the post window

The Publish editor opens over your planner, filled in from the item. Videos in its Files and the files in its Media column are already added. Write the caption, pick platforms, or turn on Auto-DM.

  3. 03

    Schedule it

Pick a time and click Schedule. The window closes and the card shows the post as scheduled.

One planner item can hold many posts, like one video cut for three apps. Click Create another post for each one.

From the itemGoes into the post
Its docThe words (a long doc, like a script, gives the item's title)
Format ThreadA thread, split into parts
Platform NewsletterAn article draft from the doc

In the Content planner, the item moves to Done once every post is scheduled. Planners with a Scheduled stage move it there first, then to Posted once they all went out. This works on any table with a Posts column, not just planners. Once a post goes out, its card shows views, likes, and comments as they come in. Close the post window with ✕ or Esc, and drafts are saved.

New planners come with Files and Posts columns. Written posts only has Posts, since its posts are written right in the post. Older planners keep their Research and Draft columns. A To-do list or Blank table gets none of them, and you can add or remove any column.

See your planner on a calendar

Click Calendar at the top of the planner. Each item sits on its Date, colored by its stage. Switch between Month and Week, and click a day's number to see everything on that day. Items with no date wait in the No date yet tray at the bottom. Drag one onto a day to plan it.

Scheduling an item's post moves it to that post's day for you.

See planned posts on your calendar

Planner items with a Date show on Publish → Scheduled → Week as dashed Planned cards under that day. Click one to jump to the Planner.

Once an item is a scheduled post, the week shows the post instead.

Fill it from your strategy or chat

  • On Strategy, click Use on an idea, then Add to plan. It lands on your first planner.
  • In a planner item's ⋯ menu, Write it in a doc makes a document and adds it to Files. Write with Eve hands the idea to Eve.
  • Ask Eden in chat to add ideas to your plan. It adds them to your first planner.
  • Ask Eden in chat to write and schedule a planner item's posts. They show in that item's Posts and move the item like posts you make yourself. The Eden MCP can do the same.
  • Ask Eden in chat to write a planner item's script, article, or newsletter. The doc and any research board Eden makes for it go in the item's Files. Short posts like tweets are written right in the post, with no doc.
