Scheduling

Scheduling troubleshooting

Fix the common scheduling snags — Instagram connection errors, the wrong account connecting, posts that fail or land late, and Substack publishing quirks.

Most scheduling problems come down to how a platform handles its own login and accounts — Instagram especially. This guide is organized by symptom. Find the one that matches what you're seeing and follow the steps.

Connecting accounts

Instagram says “We couldn't connect to Instagram”

This error appears on Instagram's own login screen, mid-connection. The usual causes:

  1. 01

    Confirm it's a Professional account

Instagram only connects Business or Creator accounts. In the Instagram app: Settings → Account type and tools → switch to Professional if it isn't already. Personal accounts can't be linked.

  2. 02

Try “Log in with Facebook,” or fall back to direct login

Instagram offers two paths. Logging in with the Facebook account that manages your Instagram's Page unlocks the richest features — but it only works if your Instagram is actually linked to a Facebook Page you manage. If it isn't, use the direct Instagram login instead.

  3. 03

    Finish the whole flow

If you use the Facebook path, you must select the Page linked to your Instagram and approve every permission, then let the window finish on its own. Closing it early links nothing.

The wrong Instagram account connects (and you can't switch)

This is Meta's Accounts Center. When several Instagram/Facebook accounts are grouped together, Meta routes the login through the group's primary account — so the account you want never appears, and you may be forced to log in by phone number onto the wrong one.

Other things that help:

  • Log in with the account's email rather than a username or a shared phone number — a unique identifier routes to the right account.
  • On the “Continue as…” screen, look for “Not you?” / “Switch account.”
  • If an account is buried under a shared Accounts Center and nothing else works, you can remove it from the group (Instagram → Settings → Accounts Center → Accounts) so it has its own standalone login again. Note this also unhooks shared login/cross-posting between those accounts, so it's a real decision — try the incognito route first.

Facebook won't connect

Facebook scheduling works with Facebook Pages only — a limitation Meta sets, not Eden. If Facebook won't link:

  • Make sure you have a Facebook Page and that you're an admin of it. Personal profiles can't be connected, and Meta retired Group publishing, so Groups aren't supported either.
  • On Facebook's login, select the Page you want to publish from and approve every permission — closing the window early links nothing.
  • Because Facebook shares Meta's login, the Accounts Center quirk that affects Instagram (above) can also surface here. The same fix applies: connect from a fresh incognito window with only the right Meta account signed in.

X / Twitter shows “Not available”

If X appears as “Not available” on the connect screen, that's a setup state on Eden's side, not something you did wrong. Contact support and we'll get X enabled for your account.

I connected on the platform, but Eden still shows “Not connected”

Eden syncs your connections when the connect window closes. If the status looks stale:

  • Close the connect window fully, then click the refresh icon next to “Connect accounts.”
  • Make sure you're looking at the same workspace you connected in (connections are per workspace — see below).

A connection shows in the wrong workspace

Connected accounts belong to one workspace each. If you linked an account but don't see it, you're likely in a different workspace (or a different Eden account). Switch to the workspace you connected in, or connect again there.

Publishing

A scheduled post failed

Failed and missed posts surface in the “Attention needed” section at the top of your Queue, with the reason. From there:

  • Publish now to retry immediately, or Reschedule to pick a new time.
  • If the reason is that an account is disconnected or needs re-authorizing, reconnect it first, then retry.

Eden also quietly retries brief, transient errors on its own before ever flagging a post — so a one-off hiccup usually heals itself.

A Substack note didn't post

Substack publishes from your browser via the Eden extension, so it has its own rules:

A scheduled repost of someone's X post failed

Scheduling a repost (a post whose text is just a link to another creator's X post) publishes through your X account directly, which needs X advanced automations turned on — the same switch as auto-retweet. If the failure reason mentions advanced automations: go to Settings → Scheduling → Connected accounts, click Enable advanced automations under your X row, approve on X's login, then hit Publish now on the failed post. Quote posts (link plus your own commentary) don't need the switch and publish like any other post — full details in Schedule X posts.

A Facebook post won't schedule (mixed media)

Facebook's API can't mix photos and video in a single post — you can post multiple images OR one video, not both. If a Facebook post won't validate, check you haven't attached an image and a video together. Split them into two posts, or drop one. (To publish a video to the Reels tab instead of the feed, attach a single video and turn on Post as Reel.)

Posts publish at the wrong time

Times follow your scheduling time zone — check Settings → Scheduling. If posts land hours off, the time zone is almost always the cause.

Instagram post won't schedule

Instagram requires media — an Instagram post needs at least one image or video, so a text-only post can't be scheduled to Instagram. Add media, or deselect Instagram for that post.

A YouTube Short won't schedule

Eden publishes YouTube as Shorts, so a YouTube target has a few specific requirements:

  • It needs a video. YouTube is video-only — no images, carousels, or text-only posts. Attach one video, or deselect YouTube for that post.
  • A title is required. YouTube Shorts need a title (its own field, up to 100 characters, separate from the post text). If the title is empty, the post won't validate — fill it in.
  • Make it vertical and short. To actually appear as a Short, the video must be vertical (9:16) and 3 minutes or shorter. A non-vertical or longer video may publish as a regular video instead.
  • Long-form isn't supported yet. Eden only schedules Shorts to YouTube right now — full-length uploads and Community posts aren't available.

Still stuck?

If you've worked through the steps above and a connection or post still won't behave, reach out to support with the platform, the workspace, and a screenshot of the error — that's usually enough for us to pinpoint it quickly.
